A request was received fromN~man C. Sargent, 2328 - 45th Ave. N.E. to park a
Trailor for 60 da~o at this address.
Motion by HoLm seconded by Spekulant, that this request be granted. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
A letter was received from ~A~ter J. Grineski, 3909 - 2nd St. N.E., requesting the
S.W. side of Edgemore Street opened for alley purposes from 40th to 39th Avenue.
Motion by Lange seconded by Deeble, to place the letter from Walter J. Grineski
dated June 24th, on file. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was received from the Wilkinson Home ~ Finance Co, regar~ding Street
Lighting in 2nd Addition of Hilltop.
Motion by Holm seconded by Deeble, authorizihg the City Manager to advertise
for a hearing on Street Lighting in Hilltop i and 2, at the next regular meeting
of the Council JuJ.y 28,1953~. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A request was received from W.L. Meachamfor a private water main from 44th &
Benjamin to 4400 Stinson Blvd.
Motion by Lange seconded by Deeble, that this request be turned over to the City
Engineer. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A letter was receded from~umner T. Francis asking for an increase of $200.00
per month for collecting garbage in Columbia Heights, or $380.00 per month.
Motion by Lange seconded by Holm, that this request be laid on the table and
the City Manager be instructed to write a letter indicating our action. Roll
Call - All Ayes.
A petition was received for Curb & Gutter on 6th Street betv~en 45th and 46th.
Motion by Deeble seconded by Lange, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise
for bids on Curb & Gutter on 6th street between 45th & 46th. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A Petition was received for an Alley Easement in Hilltop 2nd unit, Lots i,2,3,4,5,& 6,
Block~ 6.

First4reading of Ordinance No.3i2, Being an Ordinance amending Ordinance No.17!,~
Being~an Ordinance f~r the purpose of promoting health, safety, order,convenience
and g&neral welfare, by regulating the Use of land, the location and the use of
buildings and the a~rangement of bUilding lots, and the density of population in
the City of Columbia Hei~ht~.

Mayor Stopka at this time commended Andrew Spekulant for his twelve years service
on the City Coxu~cil and presen~ted D~m with a gift from th~ City Co~ucil, C~by Attorney,
~ City Manager, ~ud City Engineer.
Andrew Spek~nt received a combination Cigarette case and lighter and thanked
eve ryone.
Leonar$ Lange thanked everyone for their cooperation in the past.
Mayor Stopka announced a 5 ~inute recess at this time.

Meeting of the new Council called to order at 9:20 P.M. Roll Call -
Holm, 'Hosch, Deeble,~ Knutson and Stopka.
The Mayor asked that one of the senior council members be designated as Mayor
pro tern, in case of his absence.
Notion by Euuthon~secSnde~y Hosch, that James Deeble be appointed Mayor pro tem~
Roll Call - All Ayes.
Resolution offered by Holm seconded by Deeble, The City Council of the City of
Columbia Heights does ~hereby resolve, that regular meetings of the City Council
