Motion by Deeble seconded by Spekulant that these bids be turned over tq the City Manager for tabulation. Roll C~11 ~- Ail Ayes. A bid from the Columbia Heights Record on official newspaper publications for the City of Columbia Heights was the only one received. Motion by Deebie seconded by Holm, that the Columbia Heights Record be accepted as the official newspaper for the City of Columbia Heights for 1953. Roll C~!~ - Holm, Lange, Deeble, Spekulant - Yes. Stopka - No. A Hearing was held on assessments on Central Avenue between 4Oth ~nd 45th. A price of $3.90 per lineal foot has been set. Motion by Deeble seconded by~ Spekulant, that the matter of the Central Avenue assessment be laid on the table. Roll Call - All Ayes. A letter was received from Thomas O. Kachelmacher as attorney for Local 662, City and Sanitary Drivers' Union~ A.F .L., regarding pay increases for City employes represented by this Union. The Union is requesting an arbitration and have designated Wesley Burnham, 706- 1st Avenue No. as its representative and wish to be advised who the City Council designates as their representative. Motion by Holm seconded by Lange, that the City Attorney, Joseph Wargo,be the ~epresentative from the Columbia Heights City Council on the Arbitration Board. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motior~ by Deeble Seconded by Spekulant, to accept the Workm_~n~ Compensation ~nsurance with the Mutual Casualty Co. Roll C~.11 - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Lange seconded by Spekulant, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights h~ereby resolves that, WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lot Fifteen (15) Block Fifteen (15) Roslyn Park Addition on Jobs No.201 aud 203 in the smount of $62.50 and. $40.58 have been paid in full; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to strike from the assessment~rolls the aforesaid assessments. A reqUest was received from Bordnn Regenauer an~ Verne Passage to operate a Used ~ar lot at 3911 Central Avenue for the yea~ 1953. Motion by Lange secohded by Deeble to lay this ~matter on the table. Roll Call - All Ayes Motion by Hol~ seconded by Deeble, that the letter received from Elsie Wermerskichen date~ January t3th, 1953, be placed on file. ,Roll Call -~ ~11, Ayes. Motio~ by Deeble to accept the appointment of Mayor Stopka to p~lac~ John Lang and Elsie. Wermerskirchen on the Police Civil Service Commission. The motion lost for the lack of a second. A request was received from the Roaary Society and Mothers Elub of {he Immaculate' Conception Church to operate the Bingo Stand at t~ Jamboree to be held June, 19, 20 and 21, sponsored by~ the Activities Committee. Motion by Lange seconded by Spekulant, that this request be granted. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Spekulant seconded hy Large, BE IT HEREBY .KESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights tha~t the City treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $810.64 from the liquor fund to the Street Fund and that there are sufficient moneys~ in said Liquor Fund to~ make such a transfer. Resolution offered by Hob seconded by Deeble, B~E IT ~HEREBY RESOLVED by. the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sumoof $270.4~ from the Liquor Fund~ to the Library Fund and that there are sufficient money, s in said Liquor Fund to make such a transfer.
