Mr. Nordin~ was present a~d inviSed the City Council to Breakfast at the Candlelight Cafe on Thursday morning at 5:30 A.M. and asked if the city would furnish a truck and loader as the business men were go_~nE to clean the street on Contra! Avenue from 40th to 41st. The Council members promised to help and also that a truck and loader ~would be furnished by the 'city. Motion by Holm seconded by Lange, that the City Council accept the plans submitted by Mr~ Wilkinson in Hilltop #2, subject to the acceptance of F.H.A. and that Mr. Wilkinson be notified after we have the acceptance of F.H.A. that he is authorized to advertise for bids. A!1 members p. resent. The purpose of this special meeting is to accept the resignation of the City Manager and consider ~is successor. M ~ayor Stopka~ read the following letter received from Mr. Trafton: .4. "It appearing to the best interest of all parties concerned, I hereby ~ request to be forthwith relieved of any and all further duties or responsibilities as City Manager o~f the City of Columbia ~eights, conditioned upon my receiving vacation and severance pay to June 15, 1952, the same to be paid with the current pay period." Motion by Lauge seconded by Holm, to accept the resignation of Leroy Trafton a~ City Manager as per his letter. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Resolution offered by Lange seconded by Deeble, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the .City ~£ Col~mnbia Heights that the City Manager's salary be set at $7800.00 per year plus $600.00 per year' car allowance, effective June 15, 1952. The Mayor announced he would not ask for a roll call of this Resolution. Motion by LaRge seconded by Deeble, appealing the decision of the Chair not to call for a vote on the Resolution setting the ~ay of the~ City Manager.
