and instructs the city attorney to negotiate with the Cornelius Company, a Ninnesota
C&rporation, for the sale of property on 39th Avenue for $1.00 and other valuable
considerations, subject to the condition that a building be erected on said premises~
and that said building be started within one year. Roll Call: All Ayes.
Motion by Lange, seconded by Yencho, that the following resolution be adopted:
The City. Council of t~e 0ity of Columbia Heights, gathered at a special meeting this
22nd day of June, 1951, does hereby r~solve: THAT WHEREAS, an agreement was entered
into by ~he Hilltop Corporation as principals and the'Northwestern National Bank of
Minneapoiis, as escrow agents, to hold the aggregate ~um of Twenty Three Thousand
Seven Hundred Six and 31/100 Dollars ($23,706.31) in United States Bonds as guarantee
of compliance with conditions set forth in said agreement, A~ WHEREAS, the City Council
of the C~ty of Columbia Heights now waives such guarantee in so-far as said government
bonds ar~ concerned, NOW THEREFORE HE IT RESOLVED that said government bonds be re-
leased u6der the above agreement.~ Roll Call: All Ayes.

Minutes of the last regular and special meetings were read and approved.
A group of people were present vigorously objecting to the opening of a dump at 42nd
and 2nd St. N.E[ Motion by Yencho~seconded by Trench to notify Mr. Jeffrie
to discontinue operation of this dump. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Leon Cohen presented plans and discussed with the council the installation of a truck
weighing scale on 37th Avenue in front of the Universal Machinery Co. Motion by
Yencho seconded by Trench to refer this matter to the City Attorney, Police Chief and
City Engineer.. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A request was made to have 3rd Street north of 40th Avenue graded and widened.
A Petition was received for gradin~ and oiling 2nd Street from 38th to 40th.
The City Engineer is ~orking on some estimates and a hearing will be called.

with the Village of Crystal. Roll Call - All Ayes.

property, that was left there ~hen sewer was installed. Notion by Trench seconded
by Yencho, that City Nanager be authorized to pay Mr. Scott $50.00 for the removal of

A request was made to have Upland Crest Road in Hilltop Addition, raised four ~to six
feet. The City ~anager was asked to investigate this and find out what
~llkinson is going to do and ~hat his respensibility is.

Minneapolis Street Railway Company to disconZinue street railv~y service which is
being operated in the City of Columbia Heights over tracks owned by the Uirnaeapolis
and St.Paul Suburbar~ Railroad Company, and ~EREAS, upon ter~_ination of said railway
service, trensportation service a[ong the present route of said street railway tracks
will be provided by moto~ buses; NOW THEREFORe, BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council
of the City of Coldmbia Heights that upon the installation of such bus service, the
~inneapolis and St. Paul Suburban Railroad Company is authorized aud directed to remove
its poles and wires and to remove the rail in its street railway tracks from Central
Avenue N.~. between 37th Avenue N ~. and ~Oth Avenue N.E., and fr~m ~Oth Avenue N.E.
betwe~en Central Avenue N.E. and 5th Street N.E., together with the wye at VanBuren
Street and ~Oth Avenue N.E., and the ~vye at 5th Street N.E. and ~Oth Avenue N.E., it
being understood and agreed that at the tLme said Minneapolis and St. Paul Suburban
Railroad Company takes up and removes the rails of its track, it will plow up the
wooden ties of its track on kOth Avenue between Central and 5th Street N.E., which
ties shall thereupon become the property of, and be removed by the City of Columbia
Heights. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that ~inneapolis Street Railway Company
is hereby authorized to construct a street railway wye, together with necessary
appurtenmnces, on 37th Avenue N.E. on the west side of Central Avenue N.E. ih the
City of Columbia ~Heights. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
~ity of Columbia Heights that the ~tinneapolis Street Railway Company is hereby
authorized to open'rate a bus line upon and along the following described ,streets and
Avenues: Commencing at the intersection of Central and 37th Avenues
N.E.; thence northerly on Central Avenue N.E. to ~Oth
Avenue N.E.; thence westerly on ~Oth Avenue N.E. to 5th Street
N.E.; returning via the same route J
Any change in th~ above route is to be made only if approved by the City Council.
The fare to be c~arged on this bus line is to be the 5~inneapolis Street Railway
fare authorized from ti~e to time, free transfers to be is§ued to and from buses
and street cars. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council hereby requests
the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission to issue t8 Minneapolis Street
Railway Company, ia cert~ficate of Public Convenience and n&cessity authorizing

at 125. Motion by Trench seconded by Yencho to accept this bid. Roll Call -

A letter was received from t~e Park Board enclosing a bid for a Torro Tractor at
$1~999'5G. Motion by Yencho seconded by Trench, to concur with the Park Board
in accepting this bid. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Mr. Land of 4013 Van Buren complained of a large amount of water draining on his
property and asked that something be done. This will be referred to ' Mr.
Corlett to investigate and bring his report back to the Council.
A letter was received from Fred Oakes resigning from the Planning and Zoning
CommissiOn as he is moving out of Columbia Heights. Motion by 'Yencho seconded
by Trench So accept the resignation of Fred Oakes. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Yencho seconded by Spekulant to appoint O.H. Prestemon to fill the
uneXPired term of Fred Oakes on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Roll
Call - All Ayes.
