A bid for a Pulverizing Mixer was received from Borchert-Ingersoll,Inc., in the amount of $4208.70. Motion by Lange seconded by Spekulant to accept this bid. Roll Call - All Ayes. Bid ~for garbage collection in the city of Columbia Heights was received from Sumner T. Francis at a cost of $150.00 per m~nth with collection eve~yfive days during three months of summer and once a week for nine months, also $175.00 per month with collection twice a week during summer and once a week for nine months. Motion by Trench seconded by Yencho to accept the bid of $150.00 per month. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Trench seconded by Yencho to grant a permit for a three family residence at 4201 Monroe St. N.E. Roll Call -All Ayes. Mr. verne Passage was present and asked for transfer of Taxi Cab License to Wm.F. Singer for which $2L35q~e~ for balance of year has been paid. A letter was received from Chief of Police approviug the transfer, su~geeting that the Drivers wear caps and paint cabs all one color. Mr. Singer agreed to this. Motion by Spekulant seconded by Lange, to approve this transfer. Roll Call -All Ayes. Mr. Joseph Wise, Engineer from the University of Mirknesota, was present and discusSed with the Council the construction of the new Water Tower. Motion by Spekulant seconded byLange to call for bids for excavating and FoOting for new Water Tower as per specifications. Roll Call - All Ayes. A group of interested parties were present and asked to have the Mellon~ Property,consisting of a house and ten acres, re-zoned for multiple dwelling. This to be used for a home for the Aged by the Minneapolis Lutheran Mission AuxiliAry~ of thirty churches. F~rst ~eading of Ordinance No,280, Being an Ordinance to amend Ordinance No.I71 being an ordinance for the purpose of promoting Health, Safety, Order, Convenience and General ~lfare by regulating the use of land, the location and the use of buildings and the arrangement of building lots and the density of population in the City of Columbia Heights. The following bids were received on 3rd street sewer and water: Water $2627.60 Sewer 5174.50 Water ~690.00 Sewer 3925.50 No.1 No.2 .~estern Underground Construction Co. (Completion in 4 ~eks) Lametti & LammSti, Inc. (These bids are tied and cannot be separated ~thout our consent) No.3 Phelps-Drake (6 w~eks) Water 2839.40 (These bids are tied together and Sewer 4129.50 one willnot be accpeted without the other) Motion by Lange seconded by Trench, that these bids be turned over to Mr. Corlett, City Engineer for tabulation and a report made at next meeting. That Jim Deeble and Leonard Holm be and they hereby are declared to be elected Councilmen for a~period of four years commencing the first Eonday after the first Tuesday of July 19~l. A letter was received from the Columbia Heights Central~Ave. Bus.& Prof. Nen's Association suggesting that the Council ask the State Highway Department to install a mlow traffic sign and cross walk marking on both ~lst Ay&. and Gould. Notion by §pekulant seconded by Trench to refer this matter to the Police Department for their recommendations and also add h2nd Avenue. R611 Call - All Ayes. A letter ~s received from W~E. A letter ~as received from Marie Y~Llliamson, 4349 Arthur St. N.E. asking $306.00 damages to her property ~hich ~he §tates was caused after a Storm Sewer was installed. Second reading of Ordinance No.279, An Ordinance authorizing the sale by the City of Columbia Heights of certain Real Estate known as lots i and 2, Block 3, 2nd Sub- division of Block "F" Columbia Heights Annex to Minneapolis. Ordinance No.279 offered by Spekulant seconded by 'Trench. Roll Call - All Ayes. 20,000 Motion by Lange seconded by Trench to call for bids on / gallons of Road Oil. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by Trench seconded by Spekulant, to draw up plans and call for bids for water from alley between Polk and Hayes to 300 feet east between Arthur and Hayes, and sewer extension from Hayes east 300 feet on 40th Avenue. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by Trench seconded by Spekulant to oil 3rd street from 39th to 40th Avenue. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Mo~ion by Lange seconded by Trench to pay M.S. Mergins the contract price but exclude cost of removing trees, for Street grading in Hilltop Second Subdivision. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. The Tax Equalization board to meet June 28th.
