Wilkinson and others, favor of the City of Columbia Heights, as regarding the Hilltop Addition be permitted to expire at the termination of i~s present year, the same being approximately April 5th, 1951. First reading of Ordinance No.277, An Ordinance declaring a certain tract, piece or parcel of land to be an addition to the City of Columbia Heights. Motion by Lange seconded by Yencho to meet on Friday March 30th at 8 P.M. for the purpose of passing on second reading of Ordinance No.277. Roll CaLl - All Ayes. Ouimette, attorney for Gladys LeTourneau, who was injured on February 27,1751 at the intersection of Central Avenue and bOth Avenue N.E. Motion by Yencho seconded by Lange, .that this be referred to our City Attorney. Roll Call - All A~s. The foliowing Resolution was received from Kenneth W. C~pbell, Anoka County ~nditor :. RESOLVED, that the County Auditor write a letter to the City Manager of Columbia Heights .stating that a contract has been awarded for blacktopping Fortieth Avenue early this sum~er that before this work is done,, the City of Columbia Heights make every en~deavor to see that sewer, wat~ermain, and the public utilities complete all projects on this street so that ~hen this blacktopping is completed the street will not be torn up from time to time. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Columbia Heights, if at any time after completion of this project the street is torn up, that they assume full responsibility for the damage and repair the street to its original condition. Upon roll call vote, all voted "yes". Motion was declared adopted. Motion by Yencho seconded by Spekulant to refer ~this to ~he ~City Manager and see that this Resolution is complied with. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Lange seconded by Yencho, Company for main extension No.ll9 to grant the 'request of the Minneapolis ~Gas on Buchanan Street. Roll Call - ALl Ayes. Resolution offered by Yencho seconded by Spekulant - THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that; ~EREAS, there is immediate need for a new and larger water Tower in the City of Col~nbia Heights to replace the present Tower, and WHEREAS, it has been deemed preferable to construct said tower on a pay-as-you-go-bases, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that effective ~ediately, there be added to the water rates previously established, an additional charge of one-third of the gross water bill, said increase to be used ~' for capital expenditures. Roll Call - All Ayes. Second Reading of Ordinance No.276, Being an Ordinance vacating the East West Alley in Block ~9, Columbia Heights Annex to Minneapolis. Ordinance No.276 offered by Yencho seconded by Lange. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Spekulant seconded by Lange, that we call for bids on a Bar Extension at the Liquor Store. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Spekulant seconded by Lange, BE IT RESOLVED, as regards HF 612, ~?th Session of the Legislature of the State of Minnesota, THAT the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby requests that said bill be altered to read substantially as follows: "In any city of the ~th class adjacent to ~ city of the 1st class, but located wholly within a different county in this state, the salary of the Mayor ma~ ~b~ increased up to $50.00 per month and the salary of each councilman may be increased up to $35.00 per month, payable out of the treasury of such city of the 4th class, pr6vided the governing body of such city so determines."
