The regular'meeting of the city' council of the City' of Columbia Heights, held at the' high school on TuesdaY~ evening, August 22nd, called to order at 8:20 by ~gayor Foster, all members pre sent. ~inutes of the regular meeting of'August.9th were read and Upo motion by Karrow, seconded by Gillette, ~and passed by a vote of all ayes were accepted and approved as read. A letter was read from foyer ]~yor SOderho~ statingthS;t other business kept him from a2tending meeting to explain to the Oo'uncil disposition of police gun and'moterdycle under' his adminis- tration.~ The city manager was instructed to request )fr. Soderholm to be present at the next meeting. An agreememt was read whereb~ the proper city officials had for the s~ of $!~.00 Secured the use of a 30-foot strip of S. of Lot ~, Block l, rearrangement of Block "O" (owned by Andrew Bertha KnaPstar) for driveway purposes, for 1 year. It was then moved by Karrow and seconded, by Deutsch that this agreement be ac- cepted. Carried by vote of all ayes. A co~unication was read from E. E. Christian asking that the s~ of $140 which was held back by the council on the Polk street ~nd 39th avenue jobs be turned over to him. A motion was made by Ear'row and seconded by Dahl that the $70.00 held back on each job .be retained as specified in the contract. Vote of all ayes. A letter was read from Henry I~o'dland & Son, sewer contractors, in?orming cotuuc-i! that steps would have to ~e taken to get sewer through' Quincy street on right of way' which was occupied by..the Coltuabia Lbr. Co. Discussion brought out that company had the right to use this property- which had been condemned previously to give them room for their buildings amd Karrok~ offered a motion whi~.h was seconded by Dahl that city engineer be instructed to in- Vestigate possibility of going down ].umber company's property line through to Yackson street.
