A petition was read from membe?s and ta:¢payers of Columbia I-Iei~;bts Jmprovement Association-in the vi- cinity of Silver Lake .beach requesting council to take some action. After remarks a motion by Ostrander that City Manager be instructed to bare ordinance 'No. 13, drawn governing bathing beach and present at nexl meeting. Motion withdrawn. 5rotion made .by. Karrow that peti- tion be laid 'over and'referred to the new council, second by Ledwien. 1 . Petition redd from Resident's and !Taxpayers in the Roslyn Park dis- i trict for lights on 6th st. from 45 to .51st. After remarks a motion wa imade by Karrow that report of Gen-' . eral Electric Co., in regard to poles for lighting .be referred back to Gen- eral I~leetric Co., with addition of Roslyn. park profile and that represen- tative of General Electric Co. he !.present at council meeting when re- port is read, same to he taken up with new eouueil. Second by Buz carried. Mrs. L. 'W. Senminkey"of 41st ave and 'Reservoir Blvd. came before. council, to ask. them to take .some action in regard to speeders on 41si ave. after rem'arks Mayor Morton promised to do what be could. Communication read from Civic 'and Social club in regard to purehasing of Conkey Estate for Park purposes. Motion by Burgbyne second b~ Led- wien ti~at matter be laid .over to be taken care of by. the new council, car- ried. Applicktion of Rood Bros., for t~ic. al license to operate in 'Columbia Heights was read, and. motion by Led- wien second by Burgoyne that appli-.. cation 'be granted, carried. Communication read from State Highwa,y Commissioner in regard' to putting curb on 40th ave. north of Central. Motion 'by Karrow, second by, Ledwien that communication be' accepted and placed on file, carried. Communication r~ead from City A~- torney Peterson. Communication read from Ringer of the Minueapolis Fire de- ~ partment i~z regards to answering Calls to Columbia }Ieights. Ledwien introduced the following resolution and moved for i~s adoption, second by Ost~:ander. Be it resolved by the City Counei o'f the 'City of Columbia I~Ieights: Thc the City Manager be instructed ti take up the five (5) one thousand I dollar. ($1,000.00) emergency certifi- ;cutes of indebtedness which Were du~e i in 'December,. 1923. Tile same to be .taken out of the sinking fund. Be it further resolved that'all moneys com- i ing from the item of certificates of !indbbtedness in the budget for 1924 · be put in the sinking fund. , Moved by Ledwien, second by Bur- ;goyne meeting be adjourned.
