A regular meeting of the City Coun-
cil of the City of Columbia Heights
was .held at the Columbia school Tues-
day, Jiffy 8th~' at'8 P. M. fn the_ah-
sence ~f Mayor Morton, Ledweiu made
a motion, Seconded by Ostrander, that
Councihnan Burgoyne act as chairman
of the meeting, ~arried unanimonsly.
'3linutes of the June regular ai~d spe-
cial meetings were read and a motion
made by Ostrander, seconded by Led-
wein, that minutes lie accepted-~ as
read. Carried.

stands on street. After remarks, Mgr.'
Leiteh was instructed to draw up
ordinance. City manager reports on
petition of resident~ on (39th) Thirty-
ninth Ave. N. E. to Gould along alley
between Central and Reservoir Blvd.
-Matter-laid over until full council
present. Motion hy Karrow, secon[ted
-~y Ost~ander, that city manager be
authorized to take np village war-
rants and certificate of indebtedness
including interest to the amount of
$19,440.43. Carried unanimously.
Mr. D,'elaney of the American Brake
Shoe and Foun'dr~; Co.' and 5Ir. Patter-
son of the Iowa Paint Co: spoke in
regards to increase of valuat}on.~The
matter was fully ex~plained by Asses-
sor Robbins. The following firms
'had bids in on curb' and' gutter on
(40th) Fortieth Ave. from Central to
(Sth) Fifth St.:
Crown Sidewalk Co., Minneapolis,
Minn.; Gust Holtman 6f 2420 Elliot
Ave., Minneapol{s; Model Stone &
Cement Co., of Minneapolis; A. Ander-
son and Sons, 324 '. Plymouth Bldg.
Motion by .Ledwein, seconded by Os-
trander, bids b~ laid over for further
consideration. Carried. Alderman Kar-
row introdufies a resolution and mo~¢es
for its adoption. Motion by Ledwein
seconded by Ostrander, ti/at same be
tabled until full council present. Car-
ried. Motion bY Ledwein, seconded
by Ostrander, that city n~mnager take
up contraet for deed for lots on (40th)
