Motion by Ostrander, seconded by! Mort.on, that bonds be accepted. Car- ried nnanimously. Communication read from social ser- vice worker in regard one Jas. Petition from residents and taxpay-i er~ on'Van Buren St. from 40th roi: 45th avenues, was read, and after marks tbe matter was tabled uhtiB next meeting, until Council receives~ a Written request from school board.1 The application of A. ~. Sundberg! 'to do plumbing in city of Columbia H~ights was read. ' Moved by Karrow, seconded by Ledwein, that same be] I- granted. Carried unanimously. Communication from i clerk of municipal' court, asking to :have his salary set at $30 per month from March' 1st, as' the duties of hi~ i office would increase 'as spring c~me. iAfter remarks a motion by Ledwein, seconded by' Ostrander, that the mlerk of tl~e court, H; M. Barrows, sala{~y b~ raised to $30 per month starting March }5. Ledwein, yes; Burgoyl~e, :yes; roll call, Ostrander, Yes; 'I~ar~ irow, 'no; Morton, no. ' Application for a renewal of license !of S. H. Kohn to open lVore~t Park iwas read, and' after remarks a motion by Ostrander tl~at request be 'tabled until council has chance to discuss matter, seconded by Led~vein. Carried unanimously, i Manager 'instructed 'to cai1 meeting in near future..The question of as- sessor's wa~es, was discussed and after remarks, it was moved by Bur- goyne, seconded 'by Ledwein, that city assessor be paid 70 cents an hour. Carried unanimously. Mr..Ed. Baker asked council if city would lay water main on Van Buren from 40th to 41st if taxpayers furnish- ed. the money: ~Council instructed city manag'cr to take care of same and , report' a,t hext meeting. A request fro.m i Seeyle and Gust Holms to close, from '. Central to the alley. The matter was :left to manager to report at next ~:meeti~/g.
