council of the City of Columbia
~iieights, was held at the Columbia
school Monday evening July 9, 1923,
.this being the last meeting of the old
!council. The meeting was called to
order by the Mayor at 7:45 o~clock.
Roil call found Mayor Gauvitte pres,..
· ent, Ledwein present, Bm'goyne pres-
ent, McKenna present, Bentzen ab-
sent.
Ail the minutes from aml ~ncluding
! May 1st, to 'July 3rd, were read ahd on
motion of McI{enna., seconded by Bur-
goyne, minutes were accepted as read.
Carried.
i The retiring Mayor, Gauvitte,~gave
a short talk on his administration
and spoke about the 40th Ave. grading
and paving job, saying he thought
ithe property owners on that Avenue
got value received ior the money it
co~t them. Applause.
McKenna made a motion, seconded
· by Ledwein that the meeting adjourn
. und that the new Mayor and counciI
take their chairs.
Mayor Morton called the meeting to
Order. The City Cleri{ took oath of
office for the new members, F. II.
Morton ~or Mayor; Mrs. Ava M.
trander, and II. W. Karrow for coun-
cil, and the new council was duly
organized. Mayor Morton gave a very
nice talk which was graciously re-
ceived.
The bill~ were audited anti on mo-
tion 0f Burgoyne, seconded by Led-
wein they were allowed. Carried.
