HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 31, 1922 171 The following resolution was offerred bY A L B,ntzen, seconded by l~att Ledwien, and on roll call was unanimously c arri ed: - BE IT RESOLVED, by the city council of the City of Columbia Heights, Anoka County, Minnesota, that all sidewalks on the streets of this city shall be constructed according to the specifications adopted by the City Council on the ~ d~y of ~rch, 1922. (said plans and specifications are written in the back of this ~inute Book). The walks to be 4 feet wide, unless otherwise specified. The wlks to be placed a~ follows:- The side of the walks next ~to the property line shall be ~ feet from said property line on all streets, and avenues, except on 40th Ave.from Central Ave. to Main Street on which the edge of the walk toward the center of the street shall b~ ten feet out from the property line, leaving a six foot space between the walk and the property line where a 4 foot walk is laid. On all ~0 foot streets the walk shallbe l~id to the property line and ~n all 40 ft streets the walk shall be laid to the property line and on 66 foot streets the walk shall be ~ feet out from the prope'rty line the same as on 80 ft streets. The walk to extend 7 feet beyond the block corne~s, ~n the street it is ~constructed on, or to a J~uction with the walk already laid· on the cross street. T~,e cushion sand and the haulage of the .same to be paid out of the street maintenance fund a. ndnot taxed to the abutting property. All excavation, grading, levelling, removing of, or carrying in of dirt, to rmke the proper width of street and grade, to be added to the cost of the walk and taxed in the cost thereof. The addittional 7 feet of walk a.t beth ends of the block will ~ be ¢~dded into the whole cost for the bloak. The cost of setting line and grade st,~kes by the City Manager or his as. sistant, or by the City Engineer or his assistant, will be added to the cost of the walk and taxed into the cost. The cost of all ~terial , laba~ superintendance and inspection, together with all other costs above referred to, or necessary, will be the total cost of constructing said walk which shall be taxed per front foot or'abutting property in the manner prescribed by law and when so legally Taxed shall be enterred in the Special Tax Register in the City Managerts office and by.. him transmitted to the County Auditor at the proper time. Nothing in ~his resolution shall be constructed ~ww~ to prevent lot owners from constructing their own walks at their own expense, provided the specifications and all rules adopted by the City Council shall be complied with and when such walk is constructed and material furnished by the owner of the abutting property and paid for by the owner, no assessment shall be made on such lot m~ or lots.
