The Council agreed to dispense with the reading of the minutes. ~otion by Trench seconded by Spekulant that ~r. Snyder apply to the Police Department for a temporary permit to occupy a house trailer at gT~7-4th St., and apply at the next Council meeting for an extension of said permit. Roll Call-All Ayes. Notion by Lan&e seconded by Yencho that Ray Alexander apply to the Police Department for a temporary permit to occupy a house trailer at g800 - 4th St., and apply at the next ~ouncil meeting for an extension of said permit. Roll Call-All Ayes. A group of persons were present and requested action on a petition which they presented to the Council. The petition requested the installation of water mains which would make water facilities avail- able to the residents living between g~nd and 43rd Aves. on Arthur Street. Notion by Spekulant seconded by Trench that the matter be turned over to the City ~anager for tabulation and return. Roll Call-All Ayes. John Smith was present and~presen~ed a petition for the right to sell bn- and off-sale beer at 838 - gOth Ave. Notion by Yencho seconded by Lange to reject the above application. Roll Call-All Ayes. ~otion by Lange seconded by Spekulant to grant the Northern States power Company's request for permission to install poles in the following locations: (1) One pole on ~Oth Ave. from 8th to 0th Sts.; and (~) five poles on the alley between 37th and ZSth Aves., between 3rd St. and University Ave. Roll Call-All Ayes. Resolution offered by Lange seconded by Trench, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that, J~REAS, Special Assessments for So. two-thirds of Lot 8 and No. two-thirds of Lot 7, Block ll, Roslyn Park Addition on Job No. ~0~ in the amount of $13~.g8 have been paid in full; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized to strike from the assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments. A letter from the Park Board was read, stating that the above Board had agreed to pay its share of any vacation pay due Dennis Roach for the year 1997, providing the City determines that he is actually entitled to such pay, and providing the City pay its share of such pay. ~otion by Yencho seconded by Lange that the City ~anager check and determine the amount of time worked by ~[r. Roach in 1947, and report back to the Council whether he is entitled to such pay. Roll 7ail - Ail Ayes. A letter from Stanley ~ireskie was read, stating that the lease on the City liquore store expires December 31, 1949, and t~t the said lease could be renewed for time same 'rental as in 1949. ~'iotion by Trench seconded by Spekuiant that the City ~anager be instructed to [prepare a new lease for the above store at the above address. A letter from ~,[r. 0ndlck of the City and Saz~itary Drivers and Helpers "Union was read, requesting a special meeting be called for consideration of the pending requests of the union. The ~.~(ayor agreed to meet with Y,r. Ondlck to discuss the above matter and possibly arrange for the special meeting requested. The City Manager outlined plans for possible special improvements in the Hilltop Addition. Motion by Yencho seconded by Trench that 'the City go ahead with the proposed spe~iat improvements in the above addition. Roll Call-Ail Ayes. ']lotion by Yencho seconded by Lange that the City Eanager be instructed 'to make arrangements for the sale of ~VS,000.O0 in bonds for the above-planned special improvements in the ~ffilltop Addition. Roll Call-Ail Ayes. Selstad, 44S7 Benjamin St., was present and reques'ted an extension bis permit to occupy his garage at the above aaaress, m~d to ,~rect partitions in the above dwelling. Motion by Trench seconded Yencho to grant the above request. Roll Call-Ail Ayes. Mr. Selstad also requested a permit be given to the people occupying the house trailer on his lot at the above address. The Council :Lnstructed ~,;,_.r. Selstad to advise the above occupants to apply to the Police Department for a temporary permit, and apply at the next Council meeting for an extension of said permit. ~ ~ Raymond Ross was present and presented a proposed resolution to the Council for the rezoning of the area situated on the east side of Jackson St. between 40th and 4ist Aves. Motion by Spekuiant seconded by Yencho that the above matter and resolution be tabled. Nays · Pres temon." A group of plumbers were present and stated that violations of the plumbing ordiaance had occurred during the construction of c erta~.~a sewers between 49th and 50th Aves. on 6th St., and that the plumbing inspector had not acted to correct them. The matter, was discussed, and the Council advised it would meet at another time v~th the plumber involved in the above construction and tke plumbers who were naking the complaint.
