Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Trench, THE CITY COUNCIL QF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS HEREBY RESOLVES THAT ~TEREAS a bill House File Number 974 has been introduced in the House requiring municipal liquor stores to pay state income taxes and WHEREAS it is f~elt that this is another method by which one governmental unit is levying taxes against another goverrnnental unit and WHEREAS the Council opposes any new measure which would impede the establishment Qr operation of municipal liquor store by diverting the revenue from s~uch store operations to non-municipal purposes. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City Manager be instructed ~to have copies of this ~esolution opposing such legislation be ~ent to Senator Ledin and to Representative Nordin as soon as possible. City attomney was instructed to draw up an ordinance providing for second means of exits ingress in base- ment dwellings. Mayor Soderholm appointed Irving Nygaard and John Yencho to act as a committee for the Fire Department. First Reading of 0rdinance#247 being an Ordinance repealing Ordinance #219 being an O~iinance entitled "An 0Elinance authorizing the sale by the City of Columbia Heights of certain real-estate known as Lots 34, 35, 36, 37, and 38; second subdivision of Block F, Columbia Heights Annexu . Motion by Trench seconded by Nygaard that R. D. Thomas and Associates be authorized to make a survey of the~Citys needs of expansion and supply of water. Roll Call--All Ayes. Verne Passage was present and discussed with the Council the placing of an antenna on the water tower. Matter was referred to the City Manager. Motion by Trench seconded by Weldon ~that the agreement between Local Joint Executive Board of Bartender~a~~liated unions and the On Sale Liquor Dealer of Minneapoli~i'~h 'tti~ stipulation the same to take effect January l, 1949.
