Roll A letter from the Commercial Club was read, requesting that street signs be placed at street corners where they are now missing, and revealing certain other action taken by ~he said club at its last meeting. The council agreed the signs should be put up, but that the immediate need was for s i~s at the main intersections. A letter from Herbert Woodward was read, urging the council to i.~o~nediately take over all tax delinquent lots wi~_ in a reasonable dista.~ce from its business districts so that they can be used in the future for parking lots. ~otion by Nygaard seeonded by Weldon to place the precedinE two letters file. Soderholm, Nygaard, Trench and Motion by Yencho seconded by Trench to grant the requests, by Mr. Maas and ~rs. Gadbois, for the city to open a road along Stinson Boulevard to their property. Roll call - all ayes. The followin6~ sealed bids for the installation of sanitary sewers in Columbia Heights were opened and read: (1) Sandstrom and Heffner; (2) 0rfel and Eariane; (3) Phelps-Drake Co.; (4) Lemette and Lemette; and (5) R. H. McManus ~ Co. Motion by Nygaard seconded by Yencho to turn the bids over to the city manager and engineer for tabulation and have him report back as soon as possible. Roll call - all ayes. this point, Councilman Weldon a~peared and entered the meeting. Motion by Yencho seconded by Nygaard that the city advertise for bids o~ the ~ nata~lation of Certain waker main~ and other imp~vements to the water system in Columbia HelOts. Mr. Heglund made the report on the tabulation of the bids received on the installation of sanitary sewers in Columbia Heights and recommended the bid of 0rfie and Mariane be accepted. Motion by Yencho seconded by Weldon to accept the bid of 0rfie and Mariani, with t~ stipulation that such parts of the contract can be eliminated where sewers are not desired at this time. Roll call - all ayes. It became necessary fc~ Mr. Yencho to leave the meeting to attend to other matters at t~.~is time, and he was excused. Second readiu~ of Ordinance No. ~51, being an ordinance vacating the south l0 feet of peters place commencing at the northeast corner of Lot l, extending to t~e southwest corner of Lot 4, Block 3, rearrange- ment of Lots 33 and 3~, Block 0, Columbia Heights, Anoka County, Minn. Ordinance ~51 offered by ~ seconded by Weldon. Roll call - all aye s. Second reading of Ordinance 2~2 being an ordinance authorizing the sale by the city of Columbia Heights of certain real estate known as that part of Peters Place heretofore vacated and lying east of the extension of ~he south boundary I ne of Lot one, Block Three, rearrangement of Lots 3~ and ~, Block 0, Columbia Heights, Anoka County, Minnesota, except ~.e easterly three feet thereof, reserving to the grantor a perpetual easement and right to enter upon said tract to use, operate, repair and otherwise maintain the water main a~d water hy~ran~ upon the easterly 15 feet of said tract of land, according to ~he map or plat thereof on file ~ud of record in the office of the register of deeds in and for Anoka County, Minnesota~ Ordinance 252 offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon.
