The council agreed it v~ili be allright for the city manager to sign and send in the contract now under consideration v~ith the Bartenders' Union. ~-,o men v;ere present for the Klugman Plumbing Co. and protested the re~a~k~! of its request for a plumbing license. The plumbing inspector was not present, and it v~as agreed that he v~ould be summoned to a future meeting and the Ylu~man Co. ~ould be .,o~fied of such date, ond the matter ~ould be discussed then. Motion by Nygaard seconded by Trench to appoint the follo%~ing election Judzes: Second Pre'in.ct: '-Grace Lombard, Edna Ottem, Eva Pritechard, Clara YReinhart, and ?~ellie Helm. (1) Commonwealth Electric Co.; and (2) Kehne Electric Co. No time limits for installation were given in either~bid, and it was agreed that such information should be knov~n before making the .award. May 3, 1949 ~[otion by Yencho seconded by Trench that the Columbia Heights Fire Dept. be granted tLe permit for a festival, with the ttnderstanding that only rides, eat lug stands and certain types of lcc al concessions wo._~ld be operated. Roll call- all ayes. ~en representin~ several Columbia Hei~-~ts plumbin~ firms were present and asked an ordinance be passed requiring plumber,s licenses be issued only to plumbers who set up a shop, maintain a stock and maintain a telephone in Columbia Heights. The council agreed to hold a meeting before ~ay l0 between the city engineer, plumbing inspector, representa- tives of the council and city plumbinm firms, and possibly of representa- tives of the city electrical firms. The co ncil also agreed to hold up issuance of any more plumbing or electrical licenses until a report of said meeting had been made to the council.
