Motion by Nygaard seconded by Trench, to grant permission to the N.W. Bell Telephone Co. to place one pole, one anchor and buried cable in 45th Avenue Nm.E. b~tween Chathan Road and Heights Drive. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motlon by Trench seconded by Yencho, that the amount of $4B.00 be returned to Robert Proft, which had been paid for Off and On-sale Beer License. Roll Call - ~ll Ayes. Motion by Weldon seconded by Trench, to place letter on file received from the Civic Improvement Assoc. giving their views on the consolidation of the Fire and Police Dept. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by Weldon seconded by Nygaard, to waive the fees for dance permits and police at the Indoor Picnics to be held at Oakwood, Columbia and S~.lver Lake Schools. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Yencho seconded by Trench, that City Manager be instructed to advertise for bids for a Fixed Time Signal for 40th and Central Avenue. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. First Reading of^A~m~t~ to Ordinance No.§l, relative to amount of Plumb ers Bond. Salaries at the Liquor Store were discussed and this was turned over to the Liquor Committee and they were asked to make a report at the next meeting. Motion by Nygaar~ seconded by Weldon to pla9e Fire Department report for 1948 on f.ile. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Motion by Nygaard seconded by Trench, that communication be ta~led for further consi~eration, regarding the State Wholesale Liquor Dispensary Bill. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Trench,~ The City Council of the City~ of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lot 42 Block 86 Columbi~ Heights Annex on Job No.148 in the amount of $10.20 ~as been paid ~n full; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized to strike from the assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Trench, THE CITY COUNCIL OF the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that WHEREAS, Special Assessments for Lot ? Block 21, Walton's 2nd Subdivision on Jobs No. IO9 and 1~9 in the amount of $12.§O and $8~.80 repsectively have been ~paid in full. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized to strike from the Assessment rolls the aforesaid assessments. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. ResolUtion offered by Weldon seconded by Yencho, The City Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that WHEREAS, the wages as now set for certain classifications in the Street Department does not correspond to that set by Union Scale° BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the h,ourly rate for men while actually operating the Road Patrol, Bulldozer and Scoopmobile, shall be set at $1.80 per hour. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Harold Seavey, Union representatige was present and a Pension plan for City Employees was discussed, alsoethree wee~s vacation.~IEn.. Motion by Nygaard, that those City departments that wished to do so, take one-half hour lunch period instead of one hour and quit one-half hour earlier. T~lis motion was lost for lack of ~a second. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of C~olumbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and abe is hereby instructed, to transfer the sum of $5000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Police & Court Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such a transfer. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $2000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Fire Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $3000.00 from the 'Liquor Fund to the Street Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City CoUncil of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $500.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Band Fund; and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer. A petition was received signed by a large number of resideuts in Roslyn park asking for additional bus service. Motion by Trench seconded by Weldon that City Manager be instructed to write both the Street Railway Co. and Columbia Transit Co.~regarding this. Roll Call - All Ayes.
