Regular Meeting
July 15, 1948
Motion by Weldon seconded by Trench that Nygaard act as Mayor in the
absence of 8oderholm. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Meeting. c~lled to order at 8:10 P.M. Roll~C~ll,- Trench, ~Veldon,
Yencho and Nygaard. Soderhol~ absent.
L~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Ro~ Bentzen, 4347-6th St. N.E. was present andes aid he objected to
the sidewalk going in on his street at this time. He was asked to
contact the other residents in his block to find out if the majority
would ~gree~to holding this up.
A complaint was received on the condition of the approach to the
alley between §th and 8th Streets from ASrd to A2nd Avenues.
The Oity ~anager said this would be taken care of.
Motion by Trench seconded by Yencho, to ~ccept the grant of la~d from
Harold Anderson, ZBB~ Reservoir Blvd. -Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Douglas Brown, 50 -Sth St. N.M. Complained of dirt from street
washing in on his property~ during the recent rains and he was informed
this ~would be remedied.
Sargeant Joe °Podany appeared at the meeting and told of the dangerous
situation at Silver Lake. The City ~ganager was instructed to contact
the P~rk Board and Bernar& Reaper to se~ what could be worked out at
the Silver Lake Beach.
Motion by Trench seco nded by ~eldon that~ a permit be granted for
days ~to Rogsr~¥est, 88A-58th Ave. N.E. to park a trailer at this
address. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Yencho seconded by Trench that~ transfer of Cigarette and
Restaurant Licenses be granted Dave Jackson from 91A-A0th Ave. to
909-~Oth Ave. N.E. Roll~ Call~- All Ayes.

The matter of basement homes was brought~ up and how long they should
be permitted to live in them. This will be referred to the Zoning
Commission.
Motion by Weldon seconded by Trench, to grant~ the request of the
Minne~po!is Gas Light Co. for a m~in extension on ~Oth Avenue east
of Central approximately 58~ feet. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by Weldon seconded by Yencho, that Petition for extension of
water main frSm Stinson Blvd. on ~rd Ave. approximately ~§0 feet
west, be turned over to the City ~nager and take its regular course,
Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by V~eldon seconded by Trench, that letter be placed on file
received from the Minneapolis Gas Light Co. informing us of the re-
duction in the General Service Rate. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by T~ench seconded by ~eldon , to place letter on file received
from the City of Anoka, thanking us for our assistance at their recent
fire. Roll call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by Yencho secohd by ~eldon, to place letter on file received
from Cecilia Keyes, Sec. Library Board dated July 1st, ~48. Roll

caretaker with a hose to put out fires that might start.
