Motion by Weldon seconded by yencho, that Nygaard act as I~ayor in the
absence of Soderholm.
Meeting called to order at 8:30 p.?~.

Roll Call - Weldon, yencho and
Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved.
Motion by yencho seconded by Weldon, that petition received from
residents on 5th street between 50th and 51st Avenue, complaining of
conditions on 4th street, be turned over to the City Manager for
action. Roll Call - All Ayes.
~First reading of Ordinance No.232 being an ordinance to vacate the
alley between 37th and 38th Avenue N.E..bounded by 5th Street on the
west.and the east line of lot 41, if extended, block 89 on east.
Motion by Weldon seconded by Yencho, that the letter received from
0, Sehwartz, be tabled until the next meeting, regarding the land
adjoining the Fire Station. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Yencho Seconded Weldon, to table the request of the ~ire
Department for a permit to hold the Festival, for further discussion.
Roll.Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Weldon seconded by yencho, that letter received from the
Anoka County Sportsmen Association making application for a permit
to hold the Festival this eummer be plaoed on file. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Notion by ~geldon seconded by Yencho, that. the request for fire
protection from Bruce E. Stanc~ield, AOO1 Stinson Blvd., be ~tabled
until next meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes.
R~solution offered' by yencho seconded by '~¥eldon, A resolution to
award contract~ to the No~he~rn States p~ow~er Co. for furnishing
illumination produced by e~ectric incande, scent lamps supported from
poles by n~eans of mast arms or otherwise ~constituting an Overhead
Street Lighting syste~n, for a period of f~ive (5) years commencing on
April l, 19AB, all as per specifications now on file in the office
of .the City Clerk. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all rates,
terms and c~onditions contained~ in the form of contract made a part of
sai~ bid and offer b~e and the same are l~kewise accepted and approved,
and .the ~ayor an~d City ~anager are hereb~ authorized and directed to execut
the~ aforesaid contract or contracts for ~nd in the name of the City
of C~olumbia Heights and to affix the c~r~orate seal thereof to said

All members present.
~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
~rs. Blythe and other interested parties were present and urged that
something be done about building a new Libra ry. They also pre-
sented several letters from other interested groups.
~gotlon by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, that City Manager be instructed
to get preliminary estimates for this Library building. Roll Call -
All Ayes.

Baumga~tner to park a trailer at 4501 - 0th St. for 6D ~ays.

~otio~ by Nygaard seconded by Weldoh, that the Columbia Heights
Fire Department Relief Ass'n. be granted a permit to hold the
Summer Festival and waive all fees. Roll Call - All Ayes.

VanderBosch, 4311 Eeservoir Blvd. on Water permit amounting to ~43.00.

Resolution offered by Trench seconded by Weldon, WITEREAS: The
Commercial Developement on Central Ave. N.E. between~f40th Avenue
N.E. and $1st Avenue N.E. has advanced to a stage where ingress and
egress for delivery purposes must be provided to supplement ordinary
Highway traffic, and W~EREAS, no public alley is provided in the plat
of Block 5 Reservoir Hills, for su6h traffic to business and commercial
establisb-ments on the east side of said Central Avenue N.~E. NOW,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOIiVED by the City of Columbia Heights that the
public interest requires and necessitates the acquiring for public
Alley purposes, of t~e W 20 feet of Lot 34 Block 5 Reservoir Hills,
Columbia Heights Anoka County. The acquisition of the same to be
co~nenced forthwith. Roll Call - All Ayes.
