September 14, 1948
Meeting called to order 8p.m. All members present.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and aporoved.
Eequest by residents of 4600 clock on bZh Street'N.E. for widening
of street,and granting permission to Minneapolis Gas Light Comoany
for installation of gas main also discussed. MatTer referred to
tl~e City Attorney for oDtainment of easements.
Request by Clayton Ceaser for permission to tap unto orivate water
mash on 45th and Monroe Street N.E. Was advised to make regular
ao~olication at the City Office.
Motion by Nygaard, Seconded by We!don, to hold a oub!ic hearing for
a storm sewer at the next regular meeting. Storm sewer to be on 50th
and Fifth Street NE. Roll Call All Ayes.
Petition for installation of water main to connect up With 3941
Johnson Street turned over to City Manager to take usual course.
Motion by Trench, Seconded by Weldon, That the City Manager write
to State Public Examiner's Office requesting correction of criticism
~n examiner's reoort as regards voting by orecinct. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Trench, Seconded by Nygaard, that the

Public hearing held on Projects #182 to #191, inclusive. Motion by
~ygaard, Seconded by Trench, That City Manager proceed with said im-
orovements. Roll Call All Ayes.
Motion by Yencho, Seconded by Trench, That contract with the City
of Minneapolis for fire orotection be renewed as submitted by City
of Minneaoolis. Roll Call All Ayes.
Motion by Trench, Seconded by Nygaard, That letter from Chie~
Schwartz as regards mutual aid meeting of Fire Department on Friday
at 8 p.m. be placed on file. Roll Call All Ayes.
Motion by Trench, Seconded by Tencho, That request for op~ening of
oublic dump by Mrs. ~race I. Pierce on Lot 38, Bloc~ 4, Reservoir
~ills, be denied. Roll Call All Ayes.
Motion by Weldon, Seconded by Nygaard, That request for cigarette
license by Thomas Daher, 3911 University Avenue NE. be granted.

Motion by Trench, Seconded by Nygaard, That the City of Columbia
Heights extend its welcome to the League of Minnesota Municipalities
to hold its regular meeting at the Columbia Heights Fieldhouse on
Tuesday, October 12, 1948. Roll Call All Ayes.
Motion by ~encho, Seconded by Weldon, That letter of Andrew Masko
as regards sidewalk on 43rd Ave. and Washington Street NE. be turn-
ed over to the City Manager for his attention. Roll Call
All Ayes.
Motion by Weldon, Second. ed by Nygaard, That the letter from the
City and Sanitary Drivers Union as regards wages be olaced on
file. Roll Call All Ayes.
Motion by Nygaard, Seomnded by Weldon, That letter from ~hief
Schwartz as regards wages and eqwipment for Fire Department be
placed on file. Roll Call All Ayes.
