June 22, 1948 Roll Call- iNygaard, ~Veldcn, Yencho Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Bids were received from t~e Kehne Electric Co., Inc.,St.Pa~ul, Commonwealth Electric Co., St.P~ul, for installation of automatic ~raffic signals at the intersection of Highway 65 and 40th Avenue N.m. This was tabled until the next meeting as the C~ouncil wished to take this up further with the Highway ~Dcpartment. Motion by ~Tyg~ar~ seconded by ~Veldon to grant ~he following licemses: Suburban Equipment Co., 81~ -~?th Ave, 2~o. - Ynst~l! Heating ~. Plotnick, 10~8 Logan Ave. No. - Juke Bo~x at Liquor Store. First reading of Ordinance No.237, Being an Ordinance authorizing the sale by the City of Columbia Heights of certain Real Estate known as Lot 8, Block l, Second Subdivision of Block "F", Columbia Heig~hts Annex to ~inne~polis. First reading of Ordinance No.238, Being an 0rdinmnce repealing Section 4, C and D of Ordinance No.180, as to requirement of $5,000.00 Bond for ~ster Electrician P~eambl~ to Ordinance No.239 offered by ~ldon s'econd~d by Nygaard, being an Ordinance entitled, "An 0rdinanc~ authorizing the sale by the City Treasurer of $4,014 emergency de.bt Certificate". Roll Call - All Ayes. ~ ~esolution offered by Nygaard seconded by~Weldon, WHER~S, the~City Treasurer has this day been duly authorized to sell $4,01~ Emergency Debt Ce=ti~icate to be dated June 25, 1948, to bear interest at 3% per annum, payable at maturity of said certificate, and both prindipal and interest to be due and payable on the 25th day of June, 1949, and UKEREAS, there is sufficient money in the sinking fund to take care of the demands thereon, and it is desirable and beneficial to the City of Columbia ~Heights, ~innesota to invest monies in the sinking fund in said emergency debt certificate, N0~, THEREFORE, BEFIT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Coll~mbia Heights that $4,014 of the sinking fund .be invested in said emergency debt certificate. Upon the m~turity of said certificate the amount thereof and interest is to be returned ~for~hwith ~to the sinking fund. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oity Treasurer be and she hereby is -authorized and directed to make the necessary investment in accordance with this Resolution.. Resolution offered by Yencho seconded by Nygaard, W/{EREAS, the City Treaaurer has this day been ctuly authorized to sell $18,9~7.10 Emerg. ency Debt Certificate to be dated ~rune 25, 1948, to bear interest at ~o~ per annum, payable at ~aturity of said certificate, and both principal and inter~es~t to be due and payable on the 25th day of June 194~, almd ~REAS, there is sufficient money in the Sewer l~und to take care of the demands thereon,~ an~ it is desirable and beneficial to the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota to invest monies in the Sewer F~nd in said Emergency Debt Certificate. ~ N0~ THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia He~hts, that $1~,957.1o of the Sewer Fund be invested in said Emergency Debt Certificate. · Upon the maturity of sa~d Certificate th~ amount thereofa and interest is ~to be returned forthwith to the Sewer Fund.~ BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Treasurer be and she hereby is authorized and directed to make the necessary investment in accordance with this Resolution. Ro~ Bentzen, 4347-6th St. N.E. was present andes aid he objected to the sidewalk going in on his street at this time. He was asked to contact the other residents in his block to find out if the majority would ~gree~to holding this up.
