Meeting called to order at 8:15 P.E. Roll Call - Nygaard, Trench, Weldon and Yencho. Soderholm absent. ~inutes of the last regular and special meetings were read and approved. Resolution offered by Weldon seconded by Nygaard, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, ~EREAS a number of conven- tions involving ~unicipal affairs are sc~heduled for the near futur~ abd '~q~REAS it is deemed to be to the public interest to have the city of Columbia Heights represented at such conventions, NOW THEREFORE be it resolved by the City of Columbia Heigdats that expenses for such conventions be, as follows: Actual travel, meals and lodging expenses plus ~10.00 per day for loss of wages, the latter to apply only to non full time city employes. Roll Call - All Ayes; Motion by Wetdon seconded by Trench, that three members o~ the Fire Department be permitted to attend the Annual Convention at East Grand Forks, June 14,15 and 16th, according to new Resolution regarding ex- penses. Roll Call - All Ayes. ~otion by Mygaard seconded by Weldon to place the letter on file received from the League of ~innesota ~,~unicipalitles regarding the convention to be, held at Farlbault on June 14,15 and 10th. Roll Call - All Ayes. A meeting was arranged with residents on 37th and 38th Avenues,also Leon Cohen of the Universal Machinery Co., for June 2nd at 7 P.M., regarding an alley. Roll Call - All Ayes. ~¢,tion by Trench seconded by Weldon that Nick Kerchansky be paid ~50.00 per month, starting June 1st, for taking care of the Silver Lake dump. Roll Call - All Ayes. City ~ana~ger re~orted he had written letters to Robert Payne, 623-3Vth Ave. and R.N. Lively, 578-38th Ave., regarding unhealthy conditions on their premises and h~ was instructed to notify Health Officer to give these people 30 days to cbrrect these conditions. . Eotion by Trench seconded by Weldon, that they concur with the police Civil Service Co~muission's provisional appointment of Fred Tatting as patrolman this summer during vacation vacancies. Roll Call - All Ayes. Eotion by Nygaard seconded by Tranch, that Zettergren and Scott be appointed as patrolmen at their present scale of salary. Roll Call - All Ayes. Eotion by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, that resignation of Russel Sahlstrom be accepted on the Police Eivil Service Commission. Roll Call - All Ayes. City ~anager instructed to have 0.B. ThOmpson present ah the next Council meeting, regarding his application of Electrical License. ~otion~by Trench seconded by Weldon, that at the present time the Council feels that we have sufficient licenses for Plumbers and Electricians for balance of year 19~8 and other applications be denied. Roll Call - All Notion by Weldon seconded by Nygaard that communication be placed on file received from the Minnesota Safety Council, dated fay 19,1948. Ordinance No.233 offered by Weldon seconded by Trench. Roll Call - All Ayes. Second reading of Ordinance No.234, Being an Ordinance authorizing the sale by the City of Columbia Heights to certain real estate known as lots 4 and 5, Block 4, Second subdivision of Block "F",Col~mbia Heights Annex ~o Minneapolis. Ordinance No.234 offered by Nygaard seconded by Trench. Roll Call - All Ayes. Second reading of ordinance No.235, Being an Ordinance vacating the East West Alley in Block 5V, Columbia Heights Annex to Ninneapolis. Ordinance No.235 offered by Nygaard seconded by weldou. Boll Call - All Ayes. Notion by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, that the petition received from residents on 7th Street between 45th and 46th for Sanitary Sewer, be turned over th the City ~anager and take its regular course. Roll fall - All Ayes. Motion by Weldon seconded by Trench, that the Northwest Equipment Co. be~g given the contract to install refrigeration at Liquor Store. Roll Call - All Ayes. ~otion by Trench seconded by Nygaa~d, that Police Protection at the Summer Festival be paid for by the Fi?emens, Relief Association. Roll Call - All Ayes. ResOlution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia.Heights that the City Treasure~ be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of ~1000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Police & Court Fund and that there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make'such transfer. Roll call - Ali Ayes. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT HEREBY HESC~VED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City~ ~ Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of vlO00.O0 fron the Liquor Fund to the Street Fund and that'there are sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, BE IT ~REBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of 1~1000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Administration Fund and that there are suff- icient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer.
