The Superintendent of Schools together with members of the school
board, as _well a~s the County Commissioners of the'Districts and the
County Auditor_? -~ere present to discuss with the City Council the
various budgets.
Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Weldon, THE CITY COUNCIL of
the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that , WHEREAS, certain places
ha'~e been proposed and discussed by the Metropolitan Airports Commission
to establish an airport in the ~ounty of Anoka. BE IT HEHEBY RESOLV~D
that the City Council wholeheartedly approves such proposed airport
developements in Anoka County. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Wilkinson of the Wilkinson Home Finance Corp. was present and dis-
cd~sed with the Council the devopement of Hilltop Gulf Course Addition.
Eo~ion by Weldon seconded by Yencho, that the bid for 8 and l0 inch
Sewers be given Lametti and Lametti, and the bid for over l0 inch to
0frei and Mariani, subject to City Attorney's Approval. Roll Call
All Ayes.

Regular Meeting
October 28, 1947
Meeting called to order at 8 P.M. All members present.
Minutes of the last regular and a~Jodrned meetings were read and approved.
A petition was received asking the Council to remove the Stanton Chemical
Co. from its present location. Motion by Nygaard seconded by Weldon,
that the City Manager stop all work until inspected by the Fire Marshall
and City Manager and if need by call in the State. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A discussion was held regarding the Silver Lake park property and letters
were received from the ~portmen,s Club, John Nordin and our County com-
missioners, objecting to the sale of this property. It was decided to
retain this property and not se~l at the present time.
Motion by Nygaard seconded by Trench, that the Restaurant and Cigarette
Licenses be granted to David F. Jackson, 914-40th Ave. Roll call - All Ayes
Motion by Nygaard seconded by yencho that ~the Heating Licenses be granted

Notion by Weldon seconded by Nygaard to grant Electrical License to
Bates Electric Service, 2912 Florida live., Minneapolis, subject to the
approval of our Electrical Inspector. Roll Cal I - All Ayes.
Motion by NyEaard seconded by Weldon, to grant Milton 0uimette permission
to build eight cabins on 39th and Central Ave. Nygaard, Trench, Weldon
and Soderholm - Yes.
A letter was r~ceived from Harry Shaw, 3911 JaCkson St. regarding his
Mother, Mrs. Bertha Shaw falling on Jackson Street between 40th and~
41st due to broken sidewalk. City Manager was instructed to turn this
claim for $V8,00 over to Nick Helm, whose truck had broken the sidewalk.
Resolution offered by Trench seconded by yencho, The City Council of
the qity of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that - WHEREAS the Council
by 4/5 vote has ordered the following improvements: Repair of Sidewalk,
Curb and Gutter in the Business district on Central Avenue. BE IT
~REBY RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby directed to
prepare an estimate of the cost of said improvements and to draft a list
of the several lots and parcels of land fronting upon, and adjacent to
such proposed improvements which is benefitted thereby. BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that the City Manager shall report back to the City Council
on said improvements as soon as may be. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Notion by Nygaard seconded by Yencho, that the communications received
from the park Board be placed on file. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Resolution offered by Nygaard seconded by Trench, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED
by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City
Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of $3,000.00
from the Liquor Fund to the Park Fund and that there are sufficient
moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer. Roll Call - All Ayes.

Resolution offered by Trench seconded by Wetdon, The City Council
of Columbia Heights hereby resolves that ~TEREAS, the City Council
has at various times met for the purpose of discussing the budget
for the year 194S and ~REA$, the City Council has determined that the
following amounts of the budget be raised by taxation. NOW T_W~E~EPORE
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the County Auditors of Anoka County be
and he is hereby instructed and authorized to levy the following
amounts for the year 1948 for the various city funds as follows:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Auditor be and he is
hereby instructed to levy a tax of one-tenth of one mill (.l~)
of the assessed valuation of the City of Columbia Heights to
the amount of ~150.92 for the Firemen,s Relief Association.
