Spekulant, ","~EREAS numerous requests have been made for bus service in the city of Columbia Heights; and, W~EREAS the I~linneapolis Street Railway Company is willing to inaugurate a sixty-day trial operation ¢.~f bus service; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, b~ the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that it approves the petition of the }jinneapplis Street 'Railway Company to the Minnesota Railroad and Warehouse Commission for temporary Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity permitting the operation of a trial bus line over ~e following described route:~ Commencing at the City Limits at ~th Avenue ~.E. and ~ Street N.E.; ,thence easterly on ~?th Avenue ~.E. to University Avenue M.E.; thence northerly on University Avenue N.E. to 40th Avenue ~¢.E.; thence easterly on 40th Avenue N.M. to 5th Street N.E.; thence northly on 5th Street N.E. to 44t.h Avenue N.E.; thence easterly on 44th Avenue N.E. to ~.adis~n Street N.E.; returning via the same route; the total length of the trial bus line (round trip) being approx.imately ~.9 miles. Be it Further resolved that the operation of said bus line be on a trial basis for $ period of~ sixty days, under the following conditions: If during the sixty-day tribal period the bus line does not carry mn average of at least ~.8 total passemgers per bus mile of operation, the City Council does consent that the Railroad and Warehouse Commission permit the discon~tlnuance of said bus line. The operation of the tri~l period to commence as soon as bus equipment is available. The fare to be charged on the trial bus line to be the authorized street car fare in the City of Columbia Heights, with transfer privileges in accordance with the transfer rules of the ~'!inneapolis Street Railway Company. Be it Further Resolved That the City Council hereby requests the Railroad and Warehouse Commission of the State of Ninnesota to approve said petition and issue its order granting a temporary Certificate of· Public Convenience and Necessity permitting the trial operation of said ~us line in accordance with the t~rms and conditions of this resolution. Resolution offered by Jackson seconded by Nygaard, A Resolution determining i it to be necessary and expediant to issue $~75,000 Sewer Bonds for the City of Columbia Heights and setting date for calling for bids on said bonds. WHEREAS, at a Special City Election held June $, 19~O, the question of issuing $~78,000 in bonds by the City of Columbia Heights for the ex- tension of sanitary sewer system was duly and legally called and held, at which election 88~ ballots were cas~ on the question, of which 98Z were in favor of the issuance of said bonds and 101 wereagainst. NOW, THEREFOP[E, BE IT RES0]LVED by the Council of the City of Columbia . HeiSts, Anoka County, Minnesota, as follows: 1. In the judgment of this Council, it is advisable, expedient and necessary to issue, and there are hereby authorized and directed to be issued the negotiable coupom·bonds of the City of Columbia Heights in the aggregate amount of $275,000. 2. Said bonds shall be known as Sewer Bonds ~9~ .~e~ies- shall be dated ~day l, 194V, shall be in the denomination ox ~m,000 ea6h, and shall be numbered from 1 to 278, both inclusive, and shall mature in the order o.f ttmef~r n~aber~ the lowest number first, in each of the years from 1948 to 198Z, both incldslve, ~18,000 on 1st ~n each year from 19~4 to 1988, both inclusive, and 1st in each year fr~om 19~9 to 19O~, both inc!~s!ve, all without option of prior payment. ,~. .This Council ~wdll meet on the ER. nd day of April, 19~V at eight o,clock P.M. in the City Hall in the City of Columbia Heights, ~_~innesota to receive snd consider bids for the sale of said bonds, all bids to be sealed and filed with the City Nanager at or bef~ e the time fixed f~r the sale, and accompanied by a certified check or cashier,s check payable to the order of the City Treasurer in the amount .of ~,~00, the Council reserving the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informal- ities in the bids. That the City ~am. ager be and hereby is authorized and directed to give due notice of such sale by publishing a nbbice thereof once in each .week for two successive weeks in the Columbia Heights Record, the official newspaper of said City, being a~legal newspaper published in the City of Columbia Heights, k~innesota. Minutes of l~st regular and special meetings were read and approved. Elmer Bradle~ of ~0Z$ - ~ Street was in and discussed iwith the Council the fire pro~ection in Plymouth Township. J.D. Edholm, '4358 - 3rd Street was present and asked when the water would be installed 6n t~h~d Street and he was informed this would be done as soon as material was available. August Peterson appeared before the Council ~egarding the water drainage in back of h~s property on Central Avenue and the City !~anager was in- structed to investigate this. Bids for Gasoline were received fr~om the following: Rocket Oil Co. ~907 Central Ave. 17~ per gallon on Regular including all State and Federal Taxes and 18~. per gallon on Ethyl. Johnson Bros. Service, 404~ Central, ~/E~ belgw the prevailing posted dealer tank wagon price inclusive of state and Federal taxes. ~ Heights Super Service, 4~04 Central Ave. 1/E~ under tank wagon price. ~'~otion by Weldon seconded by Nygaard that we accept the' bid of the Rocket 0il Co.
