Mrs. Knutsen of 223 - 42nd Ave. appeared in regards to damage to her prop- erty resulting from grading of the street. 5~atter ref~ered to City ~[anager. Residents from 44th Ave. East of Central Ave. appeared in regard to improve- ments. Were advised to get petitions and present same to Council to be act- ed on in the usual way. Virgil Larson, ~904 Lookout Place, requested parking of trailer on rear of Io~. All requirements having been complied with, a motion was made by Nyga~rd, seconded by La%hrop, that the request be granted for 90 days. Roll Call - All ayes. Earl Cleland appeared in behalf of union street employees employed on an hourly basis. Mesolution offered hy Lathrop, seconded by Nygaard. WHEREAS, certain wage adjustments are necessary for City Employees; NO~ THEREFORE: BE iT MESOLVhD by ~the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that hourlyrates for city street employees be set at ninety-five (95~) cents per hour; That hourly rate of election clerks and judges be set at 60~ per hour; That hourly rate of pay for janitors at Nunicipal Liquor Store be set at 80~ per hour. ~{olI Call - All ayes. BE iT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer, the sum of ~lO,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the P-I. M. Fund; and that there ~re sufficient moneys in said Liquor Fund to make such transfer. Roll Call - All ayes. Communication from Chief of ~olice relative to the r~signation as patrolman of H. ~athews and appointment of FauI Scott to fill the vacancy was read' and~ placed on file. ~0tion by Spekulant, seconded by Lathrop, that the request for sidewalk and curbing on the North side of 42md Ave. from 6%h St. to alley towards 7th St. he granted. Roll Call -all ayes. Communication from Northern States FQwer Co. in regard to lots for pro- posed sub-station. Notion by Nygaard, seconded by Spekulant, that commun- ication beplaoed on file. Roll Call -All ayes. Relegation from Commercial Club present at meeting relative to the pur- chase of another piece of fire equipment to service FridIey Township. Matter was deferred until township completes contract with City for fire protection. Leon Cohen appeared and offered to purchase a tract of land in Block Matter was deferred for further consideration. ~otion by Nygaard, seconded by Lathrop, that the bar be extended in the Municipal Liquo~ Store and the ~Oity Manager be instructed to purchase the equipment needed. Roll Call - Ail ayes. Motion by Lathrop, seconded by Nygaard, that the State Highway Dept. be contacted in regard to placing a stop-go sign at 40th and Central Aves. Roll Call -All ayes. Resolution offered by Spekulant, seconded by Lathrop. WHEREAS, the County Auditor has been authorized heretofore to levy special assessments for the Job Nos. 108, llOy lI4y lI6 and 117 beginning with the year 1945; and, WHEREAS, no assessments were levied fo~- that year; BE iT HEREBY' RESOLVED ky' the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the County Auditor be and he hereby is authc~ized to move all such assessments ahead one year and continue the levies until all assessments are paid, as shown on said assessment rolls.
