Regular Meeting
June 25, 1946
Meeting called to order at 8:15 P.M.
Motion made by Spekutant, seconded by Nygaard, that the reading of
the minutes be suspended. Roll Call - All ayes.
Residents of 4431 Fourth St. complained about drainage on his property
and neighbors's property. Council requested City Manager to estimate
as to what the cost would be to avoid any future damage by repairs.
Residents at east end of 44th Ave. expressed desired action for road
needed in the vicinity. Need will be taken care of by results of
bids opened tonight.
Petition presented with signatures of twenty-five families in Silver
Lake area in protest to the dump by the schoolhouse. Discussion fol-
lowed. Motioned by Lathrop, seconded by Spekulant, to have the dump
at Silver Lake closed and patrons go to the dump at 37th & Stinson
Blvd. to dump their waste. Roll Call - All ayes.
Residents of 218 - 40th Ave. express dissatisfaction of plumbing Job
done in that vicinity. Dirt and boulders were left there after the
work was completed. Motioned by Lathrop, seconded by Jackson, to
have the plumber to finish it up properly and not to grant the plumber
any more permits until it is done the right way.
Inquiry from the Commercial Club as to why Lot 2,4, Block 61 wasn't
bought by the City. City Manager explained the situation which involved
a mistake. Attention to be given by the City Attorney. Lot numbers
being referred to city attorney to try and get the other lot belonging
to Carl Sorensen.
officials from Fridley Township appealed ~or fire protection. Columbia
Heights appears to have insufficient equipment for the duty, but will
discuss the matter with the Fire Chief and the City Mana ger.
Motion By Jackson, Seconded by Nygaard, t° have the complaint on side-
walk situation at 665 - 40th Ave. N. E. be placed on file and referred
to the City Manager for attention. Roll Call - All ayes.
Sealed bids on proposed fencing, pipe and fittings, and street lighting
system opened and read. Motioned by Jackson, seconded by Nygaard, that
the bids be tabled and have the City Manager check into them more close-
ly. Roll Call - All ayes.
Through a misunderstanding of proposed action, Mr. & Mrs. Neir signed their
names to a petition and requested ~ it to be drawn off. City Manager
looked into the matter.

1948. Councilman Dave Jackson assumed the chair.
Motion by Nygaard, seconded by Spekulant, that Dave Jackson act as Mayor
pro tern. Moll Call -All ayes.
Mayor Nordin assumed the chair at 8:45 P.M.
Motion by Spekulant, seconded by Nygaard, that the application of Joseph
0cel, Jr. to operate a gasoline station on Lot lI, Block "E" be granted.
