Regular meeting
Meeting was called to order at 8:05 P.M.
present.
December 10, 1946
Roll Call - All members
Minutes of the Special I~eeting of November 13th were read and
approved with the exception of one item. Motion was made by
Nygaard .and seconded by Spekulant, that the resolution be changed~
to read $300.00 i-nstead of ~200.00 to be transferred from the Liquor
Fund to the ~ayors Contingent Fund. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Minutes of the regular meeting of Noven~ber 26th were read and approved
with the exception of one item. Motion was made by Spekulant and
seconded by Weldon t~t the Resolution calling for $~00.00 to be trans-
ferred from the-Liquor Fund to the ~ayors Contingent Fund be stricken
from the records,~ asutTris.wa~ inct~de~.~.i~, the minutes for previous
meeting, Roll Call - All Ayes.
Several members of the Veterans organizations were present and dis-
cussed the making of a Plaque from pictures taken of the service board.
This is to be investigated as to materials, etc. and a report made at
a ~ater date.
A letter was received from Cal. A. Scholtz of ~[inneapolis, regarding
placement of Courtesy Waiting Benches for street ca,sand bus riders.
Mr. Scholtz was also present at this meeting and infoz~ned the Council
in detail regarding these benches. A motion was made by Nygaard and
seconded by Weldon to place this communication on file. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
A letter was received from R.J. Proft and Peter Podany, asking per-
mission ~to eolicit the printing of house numbers on the curb in front
of houses. ~[r. proft was present at this meeting and discussed the
matter wit~ the Council. A Motion was bade by Weldon and seconded
by Nygaard to grant this permit. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A l~tter was received from Ralph Corbett, Entertainment Chairman of
the Veterans of Foreigh Wars, Post ~0 , Columbia Heights, to cancel
the application for the 1947 Jubilee. ~otion was made by Nygaard and
seconded by SPekulant to place this conm~unication on file. Roll Call
All Ayes~.
Mrs. John Kallenberger, 401~ Van Buren St. was present and asked per-
mission ~o park a trailer at the rear of this address, which they are
occupying at the present ~ime. A motion was made by Weldon and seconded
by Nygaard, that persmission be granted for ~0 days. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
A motion was made by Nygaard and seconded by Spekulant, that the
application for licenses from Verona E. Tunsky , 506 - 40th Ave. N.E.
take their regular c~ourse. Roll Call - All Ayes.
A motion was made by ~[ygaard and seconded by Weldon , that the request
from the N.W. Bell Telephone Co. requesting permission to place buried
cable in 5th Street, north of STth Avenue, be granted. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
letter was received from 0 Shcwartz, Fire Chief, asking for $5.00
to cover the ~xpense of atteflding the meeting in St. Paul of the
Minuesota Fire Chief Ass,n. A motion was made by l¥eldon and seconded
by Spekulant, that this request be granted. Roll C~ll - All Ayes.
Motion was made by Spekulant and seconded by Nygaard, to have the next
regular meeting on December OO, 1946 §t 7 o,clock P..V.. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
Resolution offered by Spekulant and seconded.: by Weldon. BE IT HEP~EBY
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the
City Treasurer be and she is hereby instructed to transfer the sum of
$3,000.00 from the Liquor Fund to the Administration Fund; and that
there are sufficient moneys in said liquor Fund to make such transfer.

Resolution offered by Spekulant and seconded by Nygaard, Whereas, the City
of Columbia Heights, did on the 6th day of December, 1946 conduct and
hold a special primary election; and, ~EREAS, the City Council of the
City of. Columbia Heights did on the 10th day of December, 1946 hold a
regular meeting, and did canvass the returns of said special primary
election; and, WHEREAS, the folIowing resultm were determined by ~aid
canvass of said special primary election, to-wit:

Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of
Columbia Heights, that the following candidates, H.E. Soderholm and
Dave Jacksgn, be and they hereby are declared to be numinated for the
