wiring in his home. He was informed that the inspector would not O.K.
the Job and therefore he would have to have the house re-wired.

Resolution offered by Nygaard, seconded by Spekulant. Whereas the City
Council has at various times met for the purpose of discussing the
budget for the year 1947; ahd,
WHEREAS the City Council has determined that the following amounts of
the budget be rai~ed by taxation;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLNED BY THE ~ity Council of the City
of Columbia Heights that the County Auditor of Anoka County be and he
is hereby instructed and authorized to levy the following amounts for
the year 1947 for the various l~nds as follows:

Nordin's absence. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Meeting called to order at 8:25 PM. Roll call - Nygaard, Spekulant, Weldon
and Jackson. Nordin absent.
Minutes of the special meeting of October 1st were read and approved.
Mottos was made by Spekulant, seconded by Nygaard, that the communication~ from
the Amertc~m Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, regarding using~.the ground where
the service board now stands for }iemorial,, be placed on file. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion made by Nygaard, seconded by Speku!ant that the communication
received by V.E. Ritari, Adj., of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, regard-
ing the City o~ Columbia Heights employing veterans wherever possible,
be placed on file. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Resolution offered by ~pekulant, seconded by Nygaard, ~HEREAS there are
at this time a number of unemployed Veterans: and WHEREAS the City of
Columbia Heights occasionally needs new employees, either on a temporary
or permanent basis. Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council
of the City of Columbia Heights that insofar as it is practicable and
possible, preference as to future City Employees be granted Veterans.

and Cigarettes. be granted to Lyle Clark, 914 - 40th Ave. Roll Call -All Aye
Resolution offered by Spekulant, seconded by Nygaard, ~EREAS conditions
as to ON Sale beer Licenses are considerably different than in 1938.
Now, Therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Columbia
Heights, that' the resolution passed by the said City Council of the City
of Columbia Heights on April 28th, 1938, be and the same it hereby repealed.

Sale Beer License be granted A1 Rollins, 3911 Univsity ~Ave. Roll Call -

Motion made by Spek~lant, seconded by Nygaard, that the bid be accepted
from the Northern Coach Co. at price stated on a building 40x120 feet.

Resolution offered by Speku!ant, seconded by Nygaard. WHEREAS, be it
resolved by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that
e~ployees at the Municipal Liquor Store be paid wages in accordance
with new union scale when adopted. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion made by Spekulant, seconded by Weldon, that A.J. Hromada, 1409
40th Ave. be permitted to erect a retaining wall in front of his
property. Roll Call - All Ayes.
The Subject of salaries of Park Board employees was brought up and it
was decided t?mt the City Council would meet with the Park Board re-
garding this matter. Also a new Park Board member to be appointed to
take the place of R.L. Ernest.

October 22, 1946
Meeting called to order at 8:15 PM. All members present.
Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. A.E. Hohn, 112t-44th Ave. was present and asked permission to erect
a building 20x24 at the rear of his property for storage and this request
was granted.
Mr. Cohen of the Universal Machinery Co. 507-37th Ave. ~ presented plans
and specifications for installing a Platform Scale on the 37th Avenue
side of his property. Jackson made the motion, seconded by Weldon, that
this application be turned over to our City Attorney and City ~nager for
investigation. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Mr. Milton Ouimette presented a letter he had 'received ifro~ the Industrial
Commission regarding sanitary condit&ons at the Northern Coach Co. Mr.
Omar Schwartz, our Fire Chief has also asked that water be Installed for
fire protection. It was decided to install water as soon zs possible,
