OFF1CIAL PROCEEDINGS
Regular meeting called to order July 25th, 1939, at 8:00 o'clock at
the City Offices. Ail members present.
Previo,~ minutes read and approved with correction: viz; that the
word 'Ordinance' be stricken from the motion with reference to the
denial of off and on male licenses to Bert Foster and in lieu there-
of, the word 'Resolution be incorporated.
Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Spekulant that the request of J. Mc-
Callus for license for cash and carry ice station on Van Buren & 40th
be granted. Roll call - Ail ayes.
Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Jackson, that the request of A. Mc-
Cailum for license for one ice truck be granted. Roll call - All
Resolution offered by Pritchard, seconded by Jackson: The City
Council of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves: The the
County Auditor of Anoka County be and he hereby is requested to re-
move from the a.~sessment roll, the following amsegements on Lot Six
(6), and the North 20 Ft. of Lot Seven (7), Block 65, Columbia Nghtm
Annex to Minneapolis:

The reason for such request being that maid assessments were paid in
full to the City of Columbia Heights, July 14th, 1939.

Sewer to extend from 37th and Second Street to 42nd and Second Street
N. g. and from University and 40th A~.~. to Main St. and 40th Ave. in
Columbia Heights Minn.

· turned over to the City Mamger a-nd that he make a report aa soon aa

ard to remove gee pumps on sidewalk in front of Central Auto Saieg Co.
without jeopardizing the lieenme, be granted. Roll call - Ail ayes.
Petition read requesting sidewalks on Reservoir Blvd.
Remlution offered by Pritchard, seconded by Jack~on~ The City Council
of the City of Columbia Neight~ hereby resolves: That it ia the opinion
~.f the City Council that the need for sidewalks on Reservoid Blvd.
is urgent and the City Council of the City of Columbia Ne ight$ asks
· that the Committee on Water Worka of the City Council of the City of
Minneapolis give careful consideration t~ the petition of residentm
on Reeervoi~ Bled. for sidewalks on both sides of the street from Cen-
t.ral Ave. to the Filtration Plant, and grant the petition as moon aa
possible. Roll call - Ail ayea.
Motion by Pritchani, that the Mayor appoint a committee to help in
putting the above deal over. Motion lost without a second.
Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Jackson, that ~,l~,~e §ity Manager and
City Attorney go with Mr. Tjosvold before the[~ter .Works Committee
with the petition for sidewalks on Reservoir Blvd. Roll call - All
ayes.
Petition for lights on Reservoir Blvd. - 38~h Ave.
Resolution offered by Bentzen, seconded by Jackson, The City C~ncil
of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves: That it ie the opin-
ion of the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights t?~t there
need for a street light at t~ intersection of 38th St. N. E. and the
Reservoir Blvd. and the City Council urges that the Com~;littee on
Water Works of the City Council of the City of Minneapolis grant the
petition of property cwners on Reser~oir Blvd. for a street light at
said intersection. Rol~ call - Ail ayes.
Motion by Jac~on, seconded by Bentzen, that the question of~water
on 42nd & Quincy St. be tabled until a co.,mittee checks on same.
Roll call - Ail ayes. The Mayor appointed Mr. Jackson, and Mr.
Spekulant and several property owners on the co~:mittee.
Motion by Bentzen, seconded by .~ackson, that the re.qu~st of M. C.
DeMars for building permit be granted for a period of one year.
Boll call - All ayes.
Letter read from T. ~dEar Henderson, re~ardinx cess-pools in back
of ~984 Central Ave. The Pank to be notified to fill in same.
Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Bentzen, to place the letter on
file. Roil call - All ayes.
Painting cf the water tank left up to the City Manager.
Motion by Prit~rd, seconded by .Jackson, that the salary of Frank
Coenan be ~et at $85.00 per month as of July 1st. Roll call - All
ayes.
Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Jackson, that the following blll~ be
