Special meeting called to order May 17th, 1938. All members present.
Meeting called for the purpose of passing on the cha~ter amendment submitted by the
Charter Comm~$aion, to take tip the question of park activities, a~d any other busi-
ness which might come before the meeting.
Mr. Fitzgerald of the W.PA. recreation board, outlined park activities as taken care
of by W.PA.
The fol&wing amendment to the City Charter was read:
To the City Council, Columbia Heights, Minnesota.
Gentlemen`. Pur~-~t to request from your hororable bod~, the Columbia Heights
Charter Comn~ission met on May 2nd, 1958. By unanimous vote of members present, the
Con~nieelon decided to petition the City Council to submit the following amendment
to the Cb-~ter of the City of 0olumbia Heights to the voters of said City at the
forthcoming primary election of June ~Oth, 1938-'
#Sec. 13. Salaries. From and after the beginning of the first fiscal year following
the effective d~e of this section, the Ma~or shall receive a salary of Four Dollars
$4.00 and each councilman shall receive a salary of three dollars $3.00 for each
meeting attended, not to exceed two meetings in any month, l~hen meeting as a board
of equalization, the Ma,rot and each councilman shall receive not to exceed one dollar
per hour. ~he City Manager and all subordinate offices and emplo~e~e of the City
shall receive such salaries or wages az may be fiod by resolution of the City Council.

Motion by eeverson, seconded by Bentzen, that the Council approve the recommendation
of the Charter Commission and that proper proeeed~re be taken to put same before the
voters. Roll call - A~es: ~entzen, Pritchard, Severson, Wohlford, ~aseett. Nays:
None.
Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Pritchard, that a special meeting of the Council be
called for Thursday night, May 19th, for the purpose of taking up the question of
the alleged violation of the Liquor Ordinance by Helen Eozak~and
Attorney have all the facts of the case before the CoUnCil.~~-~--~y-~s`.
