Resolution offered by Bentzen, seconded by ~ Wohlford. The City Council of the
City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves, that: Whereas it is the opinion of the City
Council that there are at present too ma~ "on sale" non-intoxicating malt liquor licensee
outstanding in the City; and, Whereas the large number of beer parlors in the City makes
it difficult if not impossible for those engaged in that business to make a raaaonable
return on their investment and still obey the law; and, Whereas it is the opini0~n_?f the
City Council that seven (7) restamma~ts and cafes with "on sale" licenses are ~amplY ade-
quate to supply the needs of the commaniSy, and that if the beer parlors were reduced to
that number, their operators would be able to run better establishments; NOW THEREFORE,
Be it Resolved that the City Council hereby establishes as a policy for the future, that
upon the loss of a license by forfeiture no new "on sale" non-intoxicating malt liquor
licenses will be granted until the number of licensed oremises is reduced to less than
seven. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be delivered to each licensee
now holding an #on sale" non-intoxicating malt liquor license in this ~ty. Passed Ma~
10th, 1938.
