Motion by Pritchard, seconded by Bentzen, that the City Manager get an estimated cost for a retaining wall on Van Buren St. for Johnson, Fletcher and Miller. Roll call - Ayes: Bentzen, Pritchard, Severson, Wohlford, Bassett. Nays: None. Motion by 2entzen, seconded by Wohlford, that the request of Evel~nMorin for res- tau~ant, off and on sale licenses be laid aside until next meeting. Roll call - A~es: Bentzen, Pritchard, Severson, Wohlford, Bassett. Nays: None. Letter read from American Legion requesting improvement of the Diamond Ball lot at the Park. Mo~ion by Severson, seconded by Pritchard, that the following petition take the regular course; Petition for sidewalk, curb and gutter from 5th to 6th St. on 42nd Ave. Signed by four signers. Motion by teverson, seconded by Pritchard, that the recuest of Nels Swanson for an ice route be laid on the table until mext meeting. Petition from the merchants recuesting anordinance prohibiting the peddling of foods 'and merchandise from house to house. Motion by teverson, seconded by Bentzen, that the City Attorney draw up an.Ordinance covering same, for the next meeting. Roll call - Ayes: Bentzen, Pritchard, $everson, Wohlford, Bassett. Nays: None. }~otion by Pritchard, seconded by Severson, that the letter from the League of Minnesota Municipalities with reference to llth N ~. Motion by Severson, seconded by Wohlford, that the letter from Mrs. Munsch, making application for judge, be placed on file. Roll call -~Ayes: Bentzen, Pritchard, ~everson, Wohlford, Bassett. Motion by Bentzen, seconded by teverson, that the City Manager check with the Co-op and determine whether or not they can get the test of gas the City wants,get a report and also that the Fire Chief be given the privilege of ourchaming gas at his discretion. Motion withdrawn. Motion bFBentzen, seconded by Pr~tchard, that the above matter be turned over to the City Manager to find out if we are commi~ng a breach of contract b~ purchasing from other stations, and a report be submitted at the next meeting. Naars: None. Motion by Severson, seconded by Bentzen, that the P.T.A. be granted a dance permit for Friday, April 29th, and the fee be waived. Roll call - Ayes: Bentzen, Prttchard, Severeon, Wohlford, Bassett. Nays: None. Discussion as to length of WPA watchmen hours. Motion by Bentzen, seconded by Severson, that the City Manager contact Mr. Campbell 'for particulars on same, and report back to the Council, ~ and if no satisfaction is given, to go on to State and National officers. Resolution offered by Severson, seconded by Wohlford, The City Coum~il of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves: That the City Treasurer sad proper o~ficials be and hereby are authorized to issue checks to the Manager of the Lieuor Store uo to ~500..when the Manager needs such funds for cashing checks, which month the Manager of the Liquor Store ~m required to return to the City Treasurer the following business day after the money is received Roll call - Ayes: Bentzen, Pritchard, Severson, Wohlford, Bassett. Resolution offered by Severson, seconded by Wohlford, The City CoUncil of the City of Columbia Heights hereby resolves: Tb~t there be tranferred from the LiQuor Fund to the Maintenance Fund the sum of $1~00. and the City Council hereby find s that there is sufficient monies in the L~quor FUnd to make such transfer. Nays: None. 2nd Reading of Ordinance $148 - An 0r~inance providing for the licensing and registering of Bicycles and regulating the riding and operating of bicycles within the City limits of the City of Columbia Heights.
