Following letter read: Gentlemen: We, the undersi~ned wish to submit the following resolution of a Joint committee of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Le~ion Posts of Columbia Heights for your atten- tion. Resolution adopted by a Joint committee of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Americ~.n Legion Posts of Columbia Height~ adopted Feb. lO, 1933 at a meeting thereof in the City of Columbia Heights, Ninn. WHEREAS, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion are organizations formed for the promotion of peace, Harmony and welfare of the community and its citizens. That, among their various activi- ties is the endeavor to perform acts of a charitable nature in the community where amsistance by local authorities is impossible. That due to existing economic ~:~i~ conditions, the funds of these organizations are depleted and the above activities are necessarily prevented: Now Therefore Be It Resolved: that the above organizations jointly petition the Council of the City of Columbia Heights on Tuesday, the l~th of Febrmary, 193~, that the required-$50.00 license fee for the sale of fire works from the 25th day of June to the 5th day of July 1933 be waived and consent be given to the said organizations to sell firwworks on said days without fee. ~. ~(.
