'In regard to your request for infornm ti on regarding Joe. Hagen appli-
cant 'for license to run ~ C~fe at the ziendezvous, 838-4Dth A~ ~.
will say that on Wednesday, Feb. Zrd, i~om ~<ussell, former owner and
t~uager of this place interviewed nB at my home, the details~of ~hich
are already in your posses~ion.
'On ~ebruary 4th, Tom Russell, appeared at the ~la~dezvous w. i th two
· ;eg~es and started putting the place in condition to operate. One of
the tvJo ~egroes was persomally known to Officer Cottrell, who inter-
viewed him at that time and he said that he was hired as the cook by
Tom iius~ell. This ~egroe's n~me is £~o~h Battle of 62~-6th Ave. ~. idple.s.
'Acting on information given you by Tom ~ussell as to ~: ~a~en's E former
addres~ at 608-6th Ave. -~. Einne~polis, sent Officers Jaukins and
Cottrell to investigate ~nd they repc~t that the property at this add-
tess belongs to a ~ew, a ~r. ~rooks, v&.o no~' resides at this address
and ha~ resided here for ~ ~umber of years, ~nd ~hat tl~i~- man ~teted
that he did not know of Jos. ~agen, ti_at he never ?~d lived there and
v,~a~ not knovJn by iiim. Could find no c~e in thi ~ z~ ighbor hood v~o knew
of Jos. ~agen. Again interviewed ~osh Battle at 622-6th
he said that i~e hsd been l~id off this morn~:g (Feb. 9~h ) azl6 that his
place had be~?n filled by a man who was introduced to him by Tom Russell
as Hagen. On further questionLug, he said that iS wa~ 'the bunk'. He
also stated t2:at Lit. Hagen was~ out at the Rendezvous at this ti me, so
came out and interviewed hi~,, (Mr. Hagen). Pound ?dm in the kitchen,
eating his dimmer, ne spelled out ?~s name a:~ James H~,'en, and gave
as 2Lis former address, 218-11th St. S., Mi~.mespolis, Minn. This address
investigated by Officers Jenkins and Cottrell, and ~hey f~und no numbers
in this block on llth ~t. S., this p~operty be i~-g occupied by a Church
and a part of the Leamington Hotel, ~d t2~eee is ~ e~tr~ce to the
Hotel on llth St. S.
'On Feb. 9th Officer Jenkins, stopped a truck that had just made a de-
livery of coal at the Rendezvous ~d sa~-~ the ws~' bill ¥,~hich was ordered
by Tom Russei] to be 'paid for at his home addres:~~. 5~gn~d - J. O. Prench

rumors pertaining to the ~endezvous.

licenses by non-residents be laid over for two weeks to all ow for in-
vestigation by the Council. Roll call, all ayes.
