HomeMy WebLinkAboutMay 29, 1979 (2)OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA MAY 29, 1979 The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. Roll Call: Logacz, Hentges, Nawrocki - Present PURPOSE OF MEETING Mayor Nawrocki stated the purpose of the meeting was to consider activities for the second year of the Community Development Block Grant program. PRESENTATION OF INFORMATION Roger Jensen, HRA Director, summarized last year's activities. He listed the HRA's recommendations for this year's funds which are in the area of the downtown development project. Motion by Hentges, seconded by Logacz, that reading of the resolution authorizing the CDBG application be waived as sufficient copies were available to the public. Roll Call: All Ayes RESOLUTION 79-19 AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR YEAR TWO OF THE CITY'S THREE YEAR SMALL CITIES COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights was awarded a three-year Small Cities Community Development Block Grant in 1978 which specified maximum dollar amounts for each of the subsequent three years, and WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development requires that each year public hearings be held to obtain citizen input into the selection of that year's activities utilizing these funds, and WHEREAS, two public hearings were held on May 22 and May 29, 1979, in order to obtain citizen input as to the selection of these activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Columbia Heights, Mn. that The application for year two CDBG funds be prepared and submitted identifying the following activities as those to be undertaken in the second year of this grant: Activity Completion of activity 1, acquisition and relocation of 17 unit apartment building Acquisition of five (5) homes located on 41st Ave. as part of our downtown redevelopment project Home improvement loans Home improvement grants Commercial loans Project Cost $230,000 230,000 5O,OOO 25,000 65,000 $600,000 May 29~ 1979 Page 2 2. That the Housing and Redevelopment Authority be authorized to administer these activities funded by this grant. Passed this 29th day of May, 1979.
