HomeMy WebLinkAboutNov 8, 1979OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA NOVEMBER 8, 1979 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. Roll Call: Logacz, Heintz, Norberg, Hentges, Nawrocki - Present PURPOSE OF MEETING Mayor Nawrocki stated that the purpose of the meeting was to canvass the votes of the recent municipal election. PRESENTATION OF INFORMATION Motion by Heintz, seconded by Norberg, that the reading of the resolution be waived as sufficient copies were available for the public. Roll Call: All Ayes RESOLUTION 79-45 CANVASSING MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION RETURNS WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights did, on the 6th day of November, 1979 conduct and hold a General Municipal Election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two members to the Council, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights at a special meeting of said Council, held on the 8th day of November, 1979, did canvass the returns and results of said General Municipal Election; and WHEREAS, the following results were determined by said canvass of said General Municipal Election, to-wit: Total Ballots cast in election 4,297 Valid votes cast for Mayor Non-voted ballots for Mayor 4,201 85 Valid votes cast for Council Non-voted ballot votes for Council 7,890 666 VOTES FOR MAYOR Bruce G. Nawrocki Malcolm O. Watson Write-Ins 2,129 2,069 3 VOTES FOR COUNCIL Gayle R. Norberg Kenneth E. Hentges Gary D. Bennett John E. Moneta Write-Ins 2,462 2,387 1,652 1,387 2 November 8, 1979 Page 2 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, that Bruce G. NawFocki is hereby elected Mayor, and Gayle R. NoFbeFg and Kenneth E. Hentges are hereby elected members to the City Council, assuming said office on January 1, 1980 and being officially seated at the First regular meeting of the City Council in ]980. Passed this 8th day of November, 1979. Mayor Ilawrocki indicated that he received a letter from St. Matthew's Church thanking the City for the use of the Huset Park bandshe]].
