HomeMy WebLinkAboutAug 29, 1978OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS RECESSED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA AUGUST 29, 1978 The meeting was called to order at 7:41 p.m. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT The City Manager stated his report was submitted to the Council in writing and he would be happy to answer any questions about it. WARGO COURT SIGN The Mayor noted that the Council has a project going to put name identification on the mini-park in honor of Judge Wargo. The Chamber of Commerce proposed to take the existing monument and extend it out toward Central Avenue with letters stating "Wargo Court" The cost will be approximately $2,000. The City usually spends approximately $300, plus labor, to install isgning in its parks. He requested that the Council appropriate $450 to the Chamber which would go to defray some of the costs of this project. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Hentges, to authorize $450 from the general unallocated fund to the Chamber of Commerce to defray some of the costs of the sign naming the mini-park "Wargo Court". Roll Call: Logacz, Heintz, Hentges, Nawrocki - Aye Norberg Nay 5TH STREET CONSTRUCTION A brief discussion was held on the construction and completion of the 5th Street project. FIREFIGHTER'S CONTRACT The Mayor asked if the men had accepted the contract. The City Manager stated that it was ratified on August 25. The meeting was recessed at 7:55 p.m. to be continued after the informal meeting with residents on the storm sewers. Further discussion on the firefighter's contract will take place at that time. The recessed meeting was called back to order at 11:35 p.m. The Mayor stated that if there was a motion to extend the meeting past the 11:30 rule they would continue, if not, the meeting would be recessed until Wednesday, August 30 at 9:30 p.m. Motion by Hentges, to waive the 11:30 rule.
