HomeMy WebLinkAboutAug 30, 1978OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS RECESSED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA AUGUST 30, 1978 The meeting was called to order at 12:O5 a.m. Roll Call: Logacz, Hentges, Nawrocki - present Motion by Hentges, seconded by Logacz, to name Tim Yantos secretary pro rem for this meeting. Roll Call: All Ayes FIREFIGHTER'S CONTRACT The City Manager read resolution 78-37. Offered by: Logacz Seconded by: Hentges Discussion followed on changes in the last paragraph of the resolution. RESOLUTION 78-37 SETTING SALARIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE YEAR 1978 BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, WHEREAS, negotiations have proceeded for several months between the International Association of Firefighters Local 1216 representing members of the Fire Department, the City Manager and other members of the City negotiating team, and said negotiations have resulted in a mutually acceptable contract, for calendar year 1978, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the contract agreements as negotiated be and are hereby established as the salary and fringe benefit program for 1978 for members of the Columbia Heights Fire Department. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into this contract. Passed this 30th day of August, 1978. Roll Call: All Ayes The Mayor noted that there was a problem with the scheduling of the public hearing set for September 25. Motion by Hentges, seconded by Logacz, that the public hearing set for September 25 on the proposed alleyway between 51st and 53rd on the west side of Central be reset for the first regular meeting in November. Roll Call: All Ayes August 30, 1978 Page 2 Discussion was held on how to move the regular meeting scheduled for September 25 to October 2. The City Attorney stated that meeting dates have to be set by resolution and need 30 days to go into effect. This item will be discussed further at the first meeting in September. Mayor Nawrocki handed out copies of a letter from Senator Anderson on the matter of whether or not the monies allocated for the rental family housing program could be converted to a home ownership program. Senator Anderson stated he had been advised by HUD that the money could not be used this way.
