HomeMy WebLinkAboutNov 13, 1978 (2)OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA NOVEMBER 13, 1978 The meeting was called to order at 8:20 p.m. Roll Call: Logacz, Heintz, Norberg, Hentges - present It was noted that Mayor NawrocI~i was out of town. PURPOSE OF MEETING Council President Heintz stated the purpose of the special meeting was to hold a public hearing on the installation of a watermain at 51st Avenue, west of Central Ave. N.E. PRESENTATION OF INFORMATION The City Manager stated that bids were opened today on this project. Earl Gustafson, Public Works Director, stated the low bidder was ~urschville Construction Inc. in the amount of $16,O45.75. Discussion followed on the costs incurred to date on this project which will be added to Midland's assessment. Motion by Hentges, seconded by Norberg, to approve the installation of a watermain on 51st Ave., west of Central on the Midland property. Roll Call: All Ayes Motion by Norberg, seconded by Logacz, that the reading of the resolution be dispensed with as sufficient copies were available to the public. Roll Call: All Ayes RESOLUTION 78-57 BEING A RESOLUTION ORDERING IMPROVEMENTS BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights by motion on the 24th day of October, 1978 ordered notice of a hearing to be given to property owners, and WHEREAS, pursuant to a notice of hearing certain residents appeared at a Council meeting on the 13th day of November, 1978, and WHEREAS, the Council determines to proceed with this local improvement, a portion of the cost being defrayed by special assessments under Charter provisions. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED: 1. That the location and extent of such improvements is as follows: The installation of a watermain on the south side of 53rd Avenue N.E. from 335' west of Central Ave. N.E. to 1060' west of Central Ave. N.E. to serve Tract "B", Registered Land Survey #63, owned by Midland Cooperatives, Inc. November 13, 1978 Page 2 2. That the materials to be used are as follows: Ductile Iron Pipe and appurtanences That a careful estimate of the cost of the improvements has been made by the City Manager and the several lots and parcels of land fronting upon and adjacent to such proposed improvements, which be deened benefited thereby, were properly notified of said hearings, and That: the City Manager shall also list the names and owners of the several parc:els so improved as nearly as can be ascertained. 5. These improvements shall also be known as Project No. 746. Passed this 13th day of November, 1978.
