HomeMy WebLinkAboutSept 28, 1976OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS SEPTEMBER 28, 1976 -355- The meeting was called to order at 8:30 p.m. by Mayor Nawrocki in the City Council Chambers. Heintz, Norberg, Hentges, and Nawrocki were present. Logacz was absent. Six department heads and no residents were present. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Hentges, to name Beverly A. Peterson as secretary for the meeting. Roll Call: All Ayes The meeting commenced with a discussion on tree disease control. The discussion then turned to fonding with the suggestions of using all programs available to help with employee salary expenses and in maintaining the number of personnel "pretty much" as it is now. A short discussion was held on expenditures, revenue sharing, and intake revenues. The Council then recessed from 8:48 until 9:06 to allow the Finance Department time to summarize totals. The meeting then resummed with an opening discussion on levies as pertaining to special levies. The Fire Department Chief then presented information and a discussion on his proposal for changes in the specifications for a new fire truck. Discussion then turned to Don Jolly's proposal for safety shoring equipment for excavations. Hentges questioned the use of rental equipment and the use- fulness of the equipment by other departments and other communities. The next item was the suggestion of hiring a secretary for handling all Council meetings and minutes. Hentges stated questions on the use of present personnel. John Schedler then presented a discussion on his computations for general fund- ing and revenue sharing, and how each is to be used. Nawrocki asked questions on what sources we have for the general fund. The last item discussed was liquor store #1. Discussion centered around the store's lastest financial statement. Motion by Heintz, to call a special informal meeting for October 7, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the 1977 Columbia Heiqhts budqet. General consent. Meeting adjourned at 10:37 p.m. Bruce'~.
