Special Meeting
May 16, 1972
The meeting was called to ord~ at 8:10 p.m.
Jeska, Heintz, Nawrocki - All present.
Roll Call:
Land, Norberg,
Bids on Seal Coating Project #7203.
It was reported this matter was tabled at the last Council
meeting for further study of the recommendation to award the bid
on seal coat project #7203 to the second low bidder. The City
Engineer stated in his opinion, the low bidder, Bituminous
Construction Company, does not have the equipment and cannot
show evidence of experience to perform the contract. He
recommended Allied Blacktop be awarded the contract.
Motion by Norberg, seconded by Land that the bid be awarded
to Allied Blacktop Company, the low responsible bider, that
the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into a
contract for same. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Bids on Ball Park Lighting.
It was reported bids on ball park lighting for Huset Park were
considered at the last meeting and tabled on the basis that
they considerably exceeded the budget. Since that time the
City Manager andPark Superintendent went over the park secti~
of the budget and found it hard to transfer any funds to cover
the additional costs. $8,000 was the big item which would
cover roof repair, but that item was not investigated yet.
The Park Superintendent also reported there will be additional costs
involved in the lighting installation because of soil conditions.
A representative from Wolverton Engin~ing was present and a
lengthy discussion was held on the project.
Motion by Heintz, seconded by Jeska to award the bid to Ba~lie
Electric in the amount of $28,651, that the Mayor and City
Manager be authorized to enter into a contract for same.
Roll Call - Land, Norberg, Jeska - Nay.
Heintz, Nawrocki - Ayes.
The motion failed.
It was suggested to table the matter and in the meantime, try and
pin down the extra costs on the items discussed.
Motion by Heintz, seconded by Land to table the matter until
the next regular meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes.

Letter of Resignation from Councilman Jeska?
A letter was received from Councilman Jeska stating he would
be moving out of the state and would be resigning from the
Council effective June 30, 1972. Motion by Land, seconded
by Heintz to accept with regret the resignation from
Councilman Jeska, and place the letter on file. Roll Call -
All Ayes.
Report from Housing Authority.
Tom Sherohman was present and said interviews were held last
Thursday for someone to work with the Housing Authority on
the senior citizen housing project. The Authority members
felt Mr. Drews, recommended by the Hopkins Housing Authority,
was qualified to do the job. He will submit a contract
for his services and when this is approved by H.U.D. he
can be hired to do the work.
Recess was called at 9:35 p.m.
The meeting reconvened at 10:00 p.m.
Report on Grading Plans for "Southwest Park"
Representatives from the :'Southwest ParR' Committee were present
and the grading plans for a park~west of the alley west of Main
Street were discussed at length. Motion by Heintz, seconded
by Norberg that the proposed grading plan as presentedtonight,
and recommended by the Committee, be approved. Roi 1 Cal 1 -
All Ayes.
Motion by Norberg, seconded by Jeska to adjourn at 10'.40 p.m.
