The City Attorney reported a question came up to his office regarding a voter who came to register at the City Office who was not a resident for six months. He said a federal court decision indicated that the Minnesota Residency requirement for six months is invalid. He said it was the Attorney General's opinion that anyone here can register to vote. He said if anyone knows someone who was turned down for this reason, they can come in and register in the City Clerk's office. Motion by Jeska, seconded by Logacz Call - All Ayes. Nawrocki, Mayor OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS Special Me~i ng October 7,: .1971 The meeting was called ~to order atX~6:13 p.m. Roll Call: Heintz, L0gacz, Nawrocki - present. Jeska - absent. Land, Mayor Nawrocki said the special meeting was called for consi'deration of quotations received for restoration work on M.S.A. projects (Main Street, Jefferson Street, and 39.th Avenue) and the 45th Avenue project (University to Central). He reported quotations were received from Bert Hanson Construction Company in the amoun't of $4.,083.90,..and from Northdale Const'ruction, Inc. in the amount of $4,.111.50. Burt Hanson Construction can proceed with the work immediately whereas Northdale would have to delay part of the work until next spring. Motion by Heintz,. seconded by Logacz that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with Bert Hanson Construction Company for restoration work on ~Main Street, Jefferson Street, 39.th Avenue~ and 45th Avenue projects in .an amount not to exceed $4,.083..90. Roll Call - All Ayes. Garbage Service Bids.' The City Manager reported he tabulated the bids 'on garbage se'rvice and found se'veral areas where we may need additional information. Rol 1 Cal 1: Land, Heintz, Resolution to Canvass Ballots from Municipal Primary Election. The Resolution was offered by Heintz, seconded by Logacz, WHEREAS, The City of ~lumbia Heights,' did on the 12th day of October, 1971 conduct and hold a Primary Municipal Election for the purpose of nominating candidates for office of Mayor and City Council-men to be voted on at a"General Municipal Election November 2, 1971; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights, at a meeting of said Council held on the 14th day of October, 1971 did canvass the returns and results of said Primary Municipal Election; and WHEREAS, the following ~~ results were determined by said canvass of said Primary Municipal Election, to wit: Valid Ballots Cast and Counted for Mayor: 1146 Defective Ballots Not Counted for Mayor: Total Ballots Cast for Mayor: 1161 Valid Votes Cast and Counted for Council: 2204.
