Roll Call: Land, Hein-tz,~ A discussion was held on reconsideration of salaries for certain individuals. The City Manager stated the reason for including Engineering Party Chief in the Resolution was because there was an error on the original resolution where other members of the Department received a 35¢ adjustment and the Party Chief only received a 25¢ adjustment. Councilman Heintz suggested giving the Park Department Working Foreman 30¢ over Heavy Equipment scale for the time the Park Superintendent is gone as is done in the Street and Sewer & Water Departments. Motion by Jeska, Mayor Nawrocki stepped down from the Chair and seconded the motion to table the matter. Roll Call: Land, Heintz, Logacz - Nay. Jeska, Nawrocki - Ayes. The motion was defeated. A Resolution setting certain personnel salaries for 1970 was offered by Heintz, seconded by Logacz, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights that the following salaries be granted for the 1970 calendar year not including the individual hospitalization plan: Street Superintendent: $10,500 plus over time per year. Sewer & Water Superintendent: $10,5OO plus over time per year. Park Department Working Foreman: $.30 per hour over Heavy Equipment Scale when working as substitute for Park Superintendent. Engineering Party Chief: $.20 per hour over Light Equipment scale. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the foregoing salar~s be effective January 1, 1970. Roll Call: Land, Heintz, Jeska, Logacz - Ayes. Nawrocki - Nay. Mayor Nawrocki stated his reasons for voting no on the resolution: 'llf we reconsider some individual salaries we should in fairness to all reconsider all of the salaries because they do have a certain relationship with each other." No action was taken on a request to set up a license fee for gas installers. The City Attorney was directed to check into the legal aspects of this and the City of Minneapolis will be contacted as to what requirements they have on this license. The City Manager reported $12,O00 was budgeted in 1970 for tile in the Library basement but recommended we do not take bids for the work but rather purchase the materials for $500 and have men from the Street Department do the work. No Council action was necessary. He also reported a letter he submitted to the Librarian and the Civil Defense Secretary regarding scheduling use of the Library basement. Motion by Jeska, seconded by Land that Councilman E. "Sebe" Heintz be app~inted to represent the City on the Anoka County Law Enforcement Council. Roll Call - Ali Ayes. 20. No action was taken on a request for a beer license at 4010 Central pending further investigation by the Police Department. A discussion was held on the conditions at Highland Cab and a fo~llow- up should be made on the number of licenses for the cabs and the amount of insurance. A request was received to authorize four people to attend the Construction Industry Safety Day meeting at the Leamington Hotel, February 27th. Motion by Land that the request be granted for up to four people and expenses be paid, two from the Street Department, one from Sewer & Water Department, and one from Park Department. The motion died for lack of a second. Motion by Heintz, seconded by Logacz to send up to two supervisory personnel to the Safety Conference and that expenses be authorized. After the session, a brief seminar should be held to inform other members of the department of the safety features. Roll Call - All Ayes. Roll Call: Land, Heintz, Motion by Jeska, seconded by Logacz that the minutes of the last regular and special Council meetings be approved as presented in writing and the reading dispensed with.
