Motion by Jeska seconded by Logacz, t~at these bids be turned over to the
City Manager for tabulation and be awarded at the special meeting to be
held Tuesday, August 13th, at 8 p.m. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Hearing held on watermain installation on California Street between 37th
and 38th Avenues. The estimated cost was given as 89.00 per foot, which
includes the connection to Main St.
Mr. Heron was present and presented the Northern Pacific R.R. Protest
Notice against this watermain installation. Other land owners present
also were against this installation.
Mr. Aldrich of. the~Stanton Co. was present'and stated he had sold his
.bus,ness and the new owner needs water service as' he intends to add'an
office and mixing plant to the present building. Based on th~ opposi-
~tion, the following motion prevailed:
-Motion by Jeska~ seconded bY Logacz, that the request for watermain in
~ Califoria Street between 37th and 38th Avenues be denied. Roll Call -

~ The new owner of the Stanton Co. was p~esent and asked when he could again
request water service and he was told ~his could be do~e U~der new'busi-
nes~ at the eDd of this meeting, or at~any~time thereafter.
~ContinuedHeari~g on sidewalk replacgm~nt held. About 25% did notrespond to
the first card~ that were sent out, so it was decided t6 hold another
meeting and notify those that need additional sidew~lk~rgplaced; and
those ~hat'have not been contacted, or disagree With the square footage
to be replaced.~ - ' ~ -

be Continued to Monday, August 19th, when a Special Council meeting ~ill

First reading Ordinance No.6~9, To seli and convey to C.M. Herringer and
V.E. Herringer, That part of Lot 4, Block 2, W.S.A. 2nd Addn.,lying S.W.
of 39th Ave. N.E..as dedicated~in a plat of Apache Heights.
The Boosters Club ~eq~est permission to put up a Banner across 40th
Avenue the first part of September.
Motion by King seconded by Logacz, tha~ this request to place a Banner
across 40th ~venue advertising the Softball Tournament to. be held Sept.
13-14-15, be granted upon presenting proper insurance coverage.. Roll

Pa~k Superintendent requests p~mmission to,spend $625,00 plus fr~t
-for material for surfacing tennis courts at Huset~Park. ~

Park Superintendent requests authorization to have ~uil~ings'at Huset
Park and McKenna Park painted at a total cost of $504.75.
Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that this request be approved, with
the cost not to exceed $504.75. Roll Call - All Ayes.
i~[/Th.e Election lists for Judges to serve at the forthcoming elections was
discussed and a~ there were more names needed it was decided to take
th~s up again on Tuesday night.
.The City Manager reported there were two' parcels of land that would have
to be obtained by eminent domain, which are the So.30 ft.of Lot ll,81ock
3, Res. Hills~ and~ the Northerly 30 ft.of Lot~ 36, Block 1, Res. Hills for
42½ and 44½ Avenues~ ' '
Motion by Jeska seconded by King, that t~e City Manager b~ authorized
to proceed.with condemnation, of. the two pieces of land' above described.

A letter was received from Raymond.C. Zurek, 4015 Stinson Bird. giving
his consent for curb and'gutter along his property.

Motion by Jeska seconded by Logacz, that this letter from Mr. Zurek be
placed on file and that a letter be written to him explaining that the
majority of the property owners would have to approve this project and
he could ~irculate a petition, if he so desired. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
A request has been received to purchase a lot owned by the City .in Block 2,
Reservoir Hills.
Motion by King seconded 'by 'Land, that the City Manager be authorized to adver.
tise for bids on the West 50* of Lot 43, Exc. the So.130*,& the No.30~,Bl°ck
2, Res. Hills, to be opened at the next regular council meeting, August 26th'

Request'from Mr. Ted Hanna,owner of the Professional Bldg.at 4150 Central
Avenue to place a canopy over the public sidewalk, just inside the curb.
Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that this request be granted upon proper
insurance certificates appropriate for this type of installation being
furnished. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Mr. William Proft, 4021 Madison St. requests a side yard waiver of one foot
which would allow him to place a garage within two feet of his sk~e lot line.
Motion by Land seconded by King, that this waiver request be granted. Roll
Call - AIl Ayes.
A group of people were present regarding the restrictions against parking
on City streets and boulevards. A petition was presented with 367 signa-
tures, opposing the enforcement of street and boulevard parking. Most of
, these people have no access to their back yards or have more cars than their
off-street parking will accomodate. A lengthy discussion was held regarding
this matter and the suggestion of issuing special permits to people with
special problems will be investigated.
,Motion-by.Land seconded by Logacz, that the petition received opposing en-
forcement of parking violations, be placed on file. Roll Call'~- Ail Ayes.
No action will be taken on this parkin~ problem until a report is re-
ceived from Mr. Dale of Midwest Planning & Research.
Subdivision request from Robert C.Rylander, 1211 44th Avenue N.E. to divide
LOt 42, Block 1,Res. Hills, which would create a single building site on 44½
Avenue (The North 115 ft.), which will be considered as a 55 ft. assessable
frontage.
Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that this subdivision request be approved.

A lmtter was received from the City of Minneapolis, suggesting that a study
be made o~ the intersection of 37th and University, as to the need for a
traffic signal.
Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that this request be turned over to the
Traffic Commission for a report. Roll Call - Ail Ayes.
Motion by King seconded by Land, that the license applications as per
attached list, be approved upon payment of the proper fees. Roll Call -
Ail Ayes.
