Tree Trimming Bids were received from the following: Vet's Tree Service Northland Tree Service Shadywood ~ree Service Walsh Tree Service, Inc. Great Northern Tree Service Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report back at the next regular council meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. Bids were received on painting of exterior of Municipal Building from the following: Buranen-W&shburn Decorating Schumann Bros.,Inc. Motion by King seconded by Land, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report back at the next regular or Special council meeting. .Roll Call - All Ayes. Bid on sewer cleaning compound for 1968 was received from Sanfax Corp., Atlanta, Ga. Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that this bid from Sanfax Corp. be returned because no bid security was ~received as required with the bid. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on Se~ Cleaning Compound for 1968, to be opened Roli Call - All Ayes. at the November 13th meeting. ~ Bids on Storm sewer Project $6706 received from the following: NodlandAssociates Inc. Northdale Constr. Co. Inc. F.D. Chapman Const. Co. Randall & Berglin Inc. Dunkley Surfacing Co. Inc. Randal & Reed Motion by King seconded by Logacz, that these bids be turned over to the City Manager for tabulation and report back later at this meeting. Roll Call - All Ayes. A Lengthy discussion took place regarding the request from the Columbia Heights State Bank to vacate the East~West alley south of the Bank, as they are planning some extensive improvements, which would include drive-in Tellers on Van Buren. The zoning of the Bank property on VanBuren was discussed and it was recommended that this property be re- zoned to Commercial, either R-C or C-I, which would be proper for ttf~ intended use of this property. First reading of Ordinance No.667, Vacating the East-West alley between Central and North-South Alley or between Lots 5 and 6, Block 62,C.H.Annex. Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise a hearing to be held at the next Planning & Zoning commission meeting, November 7,~967, on re-zoning lots on VanBuren St. owned by the C.H. State Bank, and used for parking. Roll Call - All Ayes. Second reading ordinance No.664, Vacating 41st Avenue between University and 3rd St.N.E. Offered by King seconded by Land. Roll call-All Ayes. The Mayor asked that the second reading of ordinance $665, Adopting a uniform Municipal'Election Day, be held up in order to write letters to various organizations to get their opinion on this proposed ordinance. d~n rdinance No.666. Resolution~offered~ by Land seconded by~Jeska, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the City COuncil of the City of CoLumbia HeightS, that~the Resolution dated May' 22, 1967, on changes %n salaries~and fringe benefits as negotiated, effective on dates as noted, be amended as follows: ~ On Sections L, 2 and 3, .the date indicated as October 1, 1967, he.changed to October 31, 1967, thereby establishing a six month period as origin- ally intended. ~ -" Roll Call.- All Ayes. The request for cost participation on COunty Ditch $3, Ramsey, will be held up for further study. , A letter was zg~ived'from Mr. E.Gi Gustafs0n~ Civil Defense Director, again asking that Mrs, Betty Johnson be allowed to attend the U.S.Civil Defense Council Conference at Miami Beach on October 30 - November 3, 1967. The Ci~yEngineer reported on tabulation of Storm Sewer Bids received earlier in the meeting, and recommended a~ard to 'the low bidder, Randall and R~ed in the~·amount of $17,759.AA, as per Bid Tabulation attached. Motion by King seconded by·Jeska, that this bid on Storm Sewer be awarded to Randall~& Reed,'and that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized enter into~a contract for this work. Roll Call.- All Ayes. The City Engineer asked that a date be set for~Hearings on-Assessme~t~ for this years work. M~tion by King seconded by Land, 'that Tuesday, November 28,-~967, at 8 p.m. be set as a hearing date for Special Assessments. ~Roll Call- All Ayes.
