Hearing held on installation of Curb,Gutter and Street surfacing with structure on 2nd Street between 38th and ~39thAvenues. Petition for ~his improvement was signed by ~0%of the. land involved. An estimated cost for this improvement was given of $8.00 per foot. Several residents-from this area were present and were concerned about getting p~oper drainage and were of th~ opinion'this project should wait until the hearing to be ~eld September 25th, on drainage problem of area west of University and north of ~7~h Avenue. Roil-Call-All Ayes. Awarding of Taxicab Franchise. Motion by King seconded by Logacz, that Highland Taxi be granted the Franchise to operate in Columbia Heights.~or the remainder, of 1967. Consideration of application for a dance permit at 4020.ceD~ral Avenue. A report was received from our Police Department regarding their in%e~t- igations with other communities in the suburban area, where privately Operated teen clubs have operated, and most of the reports were not favorable. It was also thought that this building is not in a favorable location for this usage and the parking would be inadequate. 85. Motion b~ Land seconded by King, that this application for a dance permit be denied. Roll Call -'All Ayes. Mr. Moneta was present regarding his reguest for rezoning 233 42nd Avenue to allow for an apartment. He had a petition signed by people in this area who would not object to this rezoning. The council members present stated they were not in favor of this rezoning and no action was taken. The parking limitations on University Avenue Service Road was discussed. Motion by Land seconded by King, that the problem of "No Parking' on University Avenue service road, be referred to the Traffic Commission for further study. Roll Call - Ail Ayes. Mr. Gilbert Miller and Mr. Marvin Thor of Reservoir Blvd. were present trimmed on Reservoir Blvd. and stated they were interested in getting trees as possibly this would help prevent Dutch Elm disease and further the trees were badly 'in need of trimming. The City Manager was asked to_ get infor- mation on estimated cost per tree and report back at the September meeting. A Petition was received for a signal light that will operate during school crossing hours, at the intersection of 7th St. and 53rd Avenue N.E. Motion by King seconded by Land, that this petition regarding a school safety signal be referred to 'the Traffic commission for study. KO~ ua~ - ~ ~z Th~ Mayor reported he had written St. John's College regarding their request for permission to install a-receiving antenna on our City water tower for their radio station, and the council was in agreement on this request, but a written agreement would have to be worked out between them and the .City of 'Oolum~ia Heights. First reading of Ordinance No.662, Authorizing the sale of certain Real Estate to Frank T. and Kathleen M~as, 3961 Johnson St.N.E. DiScussion regarding payment to Carl Hipp, as per letter from his attorney, Peter Barna. The Council stated they would propose to put this item in the 1968 Budget for payment after january 1st, and to write peter Barna as to their intentions.
