concrete paving was given.

residents were for and against, this paving.

proceed with the paving of this alley ..during 1967 constructiOn s6ason.

recommendations considering the obstacles existing. ~

described as the south 60 feet of the North 120 feet of Lots 3 and 4, Block
2, Sullivan Grove Addition, Plat %35256, Parcel %590 (4949 Washington St.)
was assessed $152.25 for Local improvement No.581, and
WHEREAS, there was an error made in the~computation of the square footage
of this prOperty,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights
that the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and directed ~o reduce

Mayor's Proclamation on 1967 Loyalty Day:
WHEREAS: Our City thrives upon the united interests and efforts of all its
citizens working wholeheartedly for the fullest expression of
vigorous Americanism, and
WHE~= All of us should periodically emphasize and demonstrate our de-
termination to counteract any influence which threatens to distuFb the
American way of life,,and
WHEREAS: There is in our nation today evidence of some elements endeavoring
to subvert and to destroy American unity, N~
~EREFORE: I, Bruce G. Nawrocki, Mayor of the City of Columbia Heights,
do hereby concur with our national and state %eaders in prais-
ing the concept of LOYALTY DAY, celebrated on the first day of May in each
~ear; and in active implementation of that special patriotic occasion,.I
do hereby urge every citizen, school, church, organization, business est-
ablishment and home within my official jurisdiction to display the flag of
the United States and to participate in public patriotic actSvities spon-
sore~ by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, in cooperation

faced with emergency situations on their way to and from school, and
WHEREAS:' These two organizations want ~o provide a refuge, for our children
when they are chased by a.dog, bullied by.other..children, in da.n~er, from. a
stranger, in need of medical help, Or faced With any~ Other emergency.

the provisions thereof necessary for the preservation of public peace,
health and safety.

Bill for an act be recommended for adoption by the 1967 Minnesota

Request received from Mr. Gustafson, Civil Defense Director to purchase
25 jackets for the Police Reserve,Unit and 20 jackets for the Fire Rescue
Unit at 820.00 each. '

Request for Special Use Permit to operate a beauty shop at 4843 5th St.N.E.
by Roxanne Pieles. A petition was received from residents adjauent to
this property approving this Special Use Permit for a Beauty Shop.
Motion by King seconded by Land, that this request be granted, subject
to the approval of the Building Inspector and the Fire Chief. Roll

The appointments to Boards and Commissions will be taken up in two weeks.
A report on Capitol Portraits .of America was made as to our investigation
and the Solicitor's license requested by Mr. McKinnon who represents this
comp any.
Motion by King, that the request for a solicitors license be denied.
This motion lost for the lack of a second.
Request for waiver of Auctioneer's license fee for Vern Passage to conduct
an auction for Crestview Home on a rummage sale to be conducted later this
spring.
Motion by Land seconded by King, that this waiver be granted for an auction
to be held at Crestview Home. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Motion by Orendorff seconded by Jeska, that the petition received for a
semaphore at 40th and Jackson St.N.E. be referred to the Traffic Commission
for study and their recommendations. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Mr. Brown reported he had received a petition for a semaphore at 39th and
Central and he ~i!l put..this on the Traffic CommissiOn agenda also.
