Invocation by-Reverend Erwin E. schroeder of Crestview Lutheran Home.
Motion by King seconded by Land, that the minutes of the last regular
council meeting be accepted as corrected as to Resolution on Salaries
for 1967, and the reading be dispensed with. Roll Call - All Ayes.
Reverend Schroeder of Crestview Nursing Home, reported to the Council
they had received a Certification by the State Department of Health of
Minnesots, that they are accredited Nationally by the Joint Council
on accreditation of Hospitals, which is a National Agency. This
National Agency is charged with this specific responsibility of
-accreditation. He also reported plans for the future, are to expand
with sixty more beds, which would double the size of the home.

State Bank, the Fidelit~ State.Bank, and the Th~ird Northwestern National
Bank,be hereby designated as-the depositories ~or moneys of'~he City.of
Columbia Heights for a period~of one year beginning the f%~st day·of
January, 1967, and the Treasurer of this City.is hereby directed to
deposit moneys of this city' in .said Banks, and the ~Col%~bia Heights Stat~
Bank, the ~ide!ity State Bank, and the T~ird Narthwestern National Bank
are hereby authorized and directed to honor and pay any c~ecks.Qr, orders,

Mayor's PROCLAMATION on the 52nd Anniversary of I~wanis International.
WHEREAS, January 21, 1967, is the Fifty-sec°nd Anniversary of the founding
of Kiwanis International, and
WHEREAS~his group of 275,000 community leaders in 5,400 Clubs in 18
countries of the free world has taken for its 1967 Theme:
Give Us Men - Dedicated To Leadership
And, WHEREAS this stirring banner will guide these men in their constant
effort to make this community a better ~lace in which to ~ive,
I, therefore, do call upon the citizens of Columbia Heights to join me in
honoring the men of the Kiwanis Club of Columbia Heights-Fridley, upon
this, their Kiwanis birthday, and I do declare January 21, to be Kiwanis
Anniversary Day in Columbia Heights, urging each and every citizen to
take due note of the kiwanis birthday in their communication wi~h Kiwanians
and with their friends and neighbors.
Mayor's Proclamation proclaiming January 15-21, 1967 as JAYCEES
WHEREAS, the civic bodies and service organizations of~our ~ommunity.
~and the departments of the local government recognize the great service
rendered to this community by the Columbia Heights Jaycees, and
~I~REAS, The'United States Jaycees and its affiliated state and local
organizations have set aside the week of January 15-21, 1967, to observe
the founding of the Jaycees and to commemorate such founding by the sel-
ection of an outstanding young man in this community as the recipient of th
Distinguished Service Award, and

betterment of this community throughout the year.

Request to purchase material for the Pistol Range at the new Library.~
Motion by King seconded by Land, that this request to spend $750.00 for
pistol range material, be ~ranted. ~ RollCatl - All Ayes.
The City Manager"repo~ted a meeting will be held by the Innsbruck .Home
Owners Association, on January 17th at 8:15 p.m., 'in the High School
Lunch Room, and inte~ested'~council members are asked to attend. ..
The Cit~ Engineer ~reported the~e are about thirty ~ileys that are unpaved,
some have storm sewers and others need storm sewers... He will make a
list and submit to the council. '
The City Attorney reported regarding the .ordinance. which governs the
licensing of Bread Trucks operating'in Co{umbia Heigh-ts and. suggests
possibly this ordinance should be revised... ~ ~

Club of-Minneapolis for waive~ of fees for license on 15 Gumball'_Machines
in Columbia Heights, be granted~ ~ Ro~l Call.- All Ayes~
Representatives f~0m Edison Industries, oPerators of a mobil~ ~ome sales
lot at 4801 Central Avenue'Were present.~egarding' their'Special-Use Permit.
They state~ they. had'no~ complied'with.,t~ council request to place asphalt
pads un,er.the trailer wheels, gravel'walkways-and place shrubber~ on lot.
They were told to aPply"for the Special Use Permit and this would then be
investigated.and act'ed on by 'the council a.t the next meeting.. ~ .

School District ~13 has set a joint meeting with the Highway Department

and. University, on january 19th at 8 p.m. - · ~'
~The Mayor's Industrial-commercial Development Committee will ~ola an
informal discussion meeting with the Council on'January. 24th at. 7 p.m.
The limitations on parking in parking lots back of Chet's Shoe Store,
the ~1 Aiquor,Store and the Voss Parking Lot, was discussed ~nd this
will.be checked into and reported ~n at the next. regular council meeting

K letter has been received from 'the Minnesota State Highway Department
regarding installation of controls at 53rd and Central Avenue. The
City Manager was asked to write a letter to the Highway Department
that we do not want traffic signals at this location.
