A report was received from the Police Department regarding numerous calls which have been made for police service at the Red Barn and the Council asked that the Manager be made aware of this report on their establishment. Motion by King seconded by Jeska, that the list of Special use Permits be granted , upon payment of the proper fees, with the exception of the ~rth- east TV and Radio sales and repair shop, 811 44th Ave. N.E., and Bonneville Motors,4042 Central Ave. N.E. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Jeska seconded by King, that the rLnewal of Special Use Permit for the Northeast Radio & TV Repair Shop, be for the purpose of service on radios and TV~ only. Bell Telephone Co., certain utility construction permits on the existing 20 foot Columbia Heights watermain easement, ~hich lies westerly from and adjacent to the west line of Block 1, of the plat of }}[ill~op, and the west line of Auditor's Subdivision :~120, all %.~ithin a parcel of land known as the Minneapolis Waterworks property, and WI~iLEA$, there exists a need for the revision of a utility pole line through the above easement, and WI-~EREAS, this property is owned by the City of biinneapolis, and WI{EPJ~AS, the City of [,iinneapolis has granted to the City of Columbia Height~ the aforesaid 20 foot easement for water~ain construction and ;~]aintenance purposes. 3E IT i-~REBY PcESOLVED, that the City of Columbia Heights concurs in the recommendation of the Utility Companies, to place a pole line on the said 20 foot easement, approximately -two feet east of 'the present Minneapolis ?[aterworks fence, and that this placemend of the pole line will not cause damage to or endanger the e::isting Columbia Heights watermain, now placed in this easement. i~E IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Columbia I~eights requests 'the City of [~4inneapolis to grant the necessary permits for this proposed construction. The Manager and Assistant Manager of the Red Barn Restaurant were present and discussed %,ith the council 'their intention to cooperate and enforce stronger police protection in running an orderly establishment in the future. Motion by ~ing seconded by Jeska, that the Special Use Permit for the Red Barn Restaurant be renewed for the coming year. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by fling seconded by jeska, that check [~Jo.4154 in the amount of $4.40 issued to National Fire Protection Assn., be cancelled, as this is a dupli- cate of No. 3797 dated November 1~, 1966. i~oll Call - All Ayes. 561 Motion by Jeska seconded by King, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids on a new Squad car, to be opened january 23, 1967. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Jeska, that the request for-the Building Inspector to attend the llth Annual Institute for Building Officials at the U of M, January 23,24,25, 1967, be granted and that necessary expenses be authorized. Motion by King seconded by Jeska, 'that the request for -the City Attorney to attend the Municipal Attorney's Institute, January 13 and 14,1967, be approved with necessary expenses paid. Roll Call - Ali. Ayes. The City Manager informed the Council that ~. Blomgren had called and reported that Roland Hatfield has appointed George Sund as Special Assessor for the re-assessment of Columbia Heights, and that he would start work around the middle of January. The City Engineer reported the Lametti contract %~ill probably be completed in a week or so. Motion by Jeska seconded by King, that the list of license, Master Electric- ians license registration and Home Occupation applications, as per list, be approved upon payment of the proper fees. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by King seconded by jeaSka, that the request of Reverend John L:~pez Rios for a solicitors permit be granted, and the fee waived. Roll Call - All Ayes. Motion by Orendorff seconded 'by King, that the Special Use Permit for John Miller, 5015 University Avenue, be granted uoon payment of the proper fees and-the proper filling out of the application. Motion by Orendorff seconded by Jeska, that the Home Occupation permit of John .Hemak, 44.01 Quincy St.N.E., to operate a Radio & ~i'V Repair Shop be allowed, and include 'the sale of Foreign ilecords.
