November 7, 1966 Roi1 Call: Land, King, Nawrocki, Resolution off~red by Land seconded by King, ordering a certain building located at 4111 Third Street N.E., Columbia Heights, Minnesota, to be razed and removed. WHEREAS, Edward Chies aka Ed Chies and Doris L. chies, are the owners of a certain building located at 4111 4rd'St.N.E., on the below legally des- cribed property, and WHEREAS, a certain building is located on the lot and described as a burnt-out home, and WHERE~, after the receip~ of n~n]erous complaints, the council of the City of Columbia Heights ordered an inspection to be made of the above-described premises, which described premises Was found to be inadequately maintained, dilapidated, physically damaged, abandoned and in a state of disrepair and constitutes a hazard to the public safety and health and that it does violate existing ordinances of the City of columbia Heights, and WHEREAS, the council of the City of columbia Heights finds that the above- described building is inadequately maintained; and that the building is dilapidated; that the building is physically damaged; that the building is abandoned; and that the'building does constitute a hazard to the public safety and health; and that it does not conform to the building code of the City of Columbia Heights. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Edward chies aka Ed chies and Doris L. chies, husband and wife, shall be ordered to raze and remove that building on the property legally described as: Lot Eleven (11), Block One (1), Rearrangement of Block "D", Columbia Heights Annex, Anoka County, Minnesota, except that portion deeded for state highway purposes. - This action is taken pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Annotated 463.15 to 463 26 on the grounds that the said building is a hazardous building within the meaning of that statute. Roll Call - All Ayes. Resolution offered by Land seconded by Jeska, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT, WHEREAS: The City Council of the City of columbia Heights has at various tim times met for the purpose of discussing the budget for the year 1967, and WHEREAS: The City Council has determined that the following amounts of the Budget be raised by taxation: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the county Auditor of Anoka county be, and he is hereby instructed and authorized to levy the following amounts for the year 1967 for various City Funds, as follows: Administration $94,400.00 Police court Fire street Library Park Recreation civil Defense utilities storm Sewer Construction University Avenue signals storm sewer Bond Deferred Liabilities TOTAL 161,500.00 82,000.00 122,900.00 33,650.00 142,150.00 17,500.00 3,500.00 4,000.00 10,000.00 21,900.00 56,300.00 35,620.00_ $ 785,420.00 542 The Mayor stated the council were not happy about having to raise the mill rate, but after holding 27 budget meetings, the budget was reduced by approx- imately $175,000 from departmental requests, in trying to keep things down to an absolute minimum. ~~'S DAY - 1966 PROCLAMATION: By the Mayor of the City of Columbia Heights, Minnesota. W~EREAS, President Lyndon B. Johnson of the United States, has asked that November 11, 1966 be observed as Veterans Day, the day on which we salute citizens who have exemplified the highest tradition of citizenship by serving in defense of this Nation; and WHEREAS, Governor Karl F. Rolvaag, of the State of Minnesota has'further requested all of the citizens of the State of Minnesota to observe Friday, November 11, 1966, as Veterans Day; and WHEREAS, Veterans Day is traditionally a day dedicated to peace;'and WHEREAS, Americans have always wanted peace; and WHEREAS, Peace with Honor lies at the very heart of our American principles; NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRUCE G. NAWROCKI, Mayor of the City of COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, do hereby call on all citizens of the City of Columbia Heights, to observe Friday, November 11, 1966, as Veterans Day. I request all citizens, all business enterprises, all veterans organizations, city officials and schools, to commemorate Veterans Day by performing publicly with appropriate rites in accordance with the permanent Veterans Day theme, '"PEACE WITH HONOR" IN WITNESS }'~HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the official seal of the City of Columbia Heights, to be affixed, this 7th day of November, in the year of our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-Six.
